Cheaper than Lyubushkin?

This contract basically just mimics my feelings on Sandin at the end of his time here: it feels fine I guess but I wouldn't want it on the Leafs.

If you factor in who the pick was used on and what Sandin's done as a Cap my feelings surrounding that trade have only improved over the last year.

I definitely wouldn't want that cap hit, good lord.

For the Leafs that'd be ugly and tough to fit in.  But for a team like the Capitals which is aging, set for a severe downswing, and pretty much only trying to stay afloat to get Ovechkin the goal record, I think it is a reasonable gamble for a team that'll have more than adequate cap space in the coming years to secure a young player who can and will play lots of minutes.  They did well with Dylan Strome, and certainly they're hoping to hit the same with Sandin.

Can only infer there was no market for Tarasenko.  Right-shot physical defenders more in demand.

Is a 3rd and a 4th cheaper than a 3rd and a 6th?

Anyway this does feel a little cheaper than what I figured Tarasenko would get (a 2nd rounder) but worth noting he had a full NTC and it sounds like that heavily came into play here.

I thought the Sens were in "win now" mode and supposed to be better than the Leafs, why are they selling?

Not in raw pick value, but the way you suggested: vibes. Also only retained 50%. Sens fans maaaaad at the return, especially for an in-division deal.

Pretty mediocre return, but, Tarasenko has been really inconsistent this season and hasn't exactly been more than a secondary scoring type playoff performer for most of his career, either.

Along with old Marlie Sam Carrick

They also thought they had the best top 6 in the conference, so, they're just sticking to their consistent delusions. Good for them.

Be nice! 😂

I thought the Sens would be much better this year than what they've shown.

I liked Henrique, but would have never given up a 1st for him. That's Foligno-like.

That's good for the Ducks, for sure.

Seems like trades are happening quickly now.

Treliving hard at work!
