I really don't mean for this to sound disrespectful towards him, but if Fraser Minten is leading all your forwards in ice-time that seems like an issue. Feels like this team lacked higher end forwards (obviously got some eligible ones who were busy in the NHL as usual).

Woudln't Poitras be a better candidate to lead the team? I mean he's already in the NHL.

Coaching and roster construction was questionable. Poitras didn't have a full camp with the squad, so that might be why they hitched their wagon to the dependable, albeit offensively limited Minten. Minten does a lot of the little things to push play into the right ice, but that's dependent on the finishing talent around him to produce.

In pre-tournament play, Minten was rolling with 2024 1st overall candidate Macklin Celebrini, but then they moved away from that once round robin play started.

Anyway, the game is random enough a bad swing for a couple of periods derails the tournament.

Canada is out

At least this prepares Cowan and Minten for the Leafs with early round exits.
