2023 Blue Jays thread

Terrible instincts and the third base coach who had a far better view had the stop sign up too.

So that Jays team showed up eh...and by the way, my 8 and 6 year olds are way too good at hearing me as well. I usually go off after a terrible typical Leafs defensive breakdown...so it's justified...and like I can see the spit coming out of my mouth when I swear at the TV while sitting by myself.

I didn't watch the game...couldn't bring myself to.

I'll watch tomorrow, just because apparently I like torture...and I'll spit swear loudly at the TV while sitting by myself again.

The Jays built a good rotation and bullpen and the offense is not great.  They needed another bat.  This feels like a Cleveland team....just without timely hitting.

Yeah. The offence just hasn't really clicked this season. At no point were they really on a roll with the bats. Injuries and down years from some of their best hitters contributed to that, but the situational hitting has been a concern for this squad for a few years now, and, when they're not hitting the ball out of the park like they had in previous seasons, it really shows.

It's such a weird team to watch. The pitching staff is great and the lineup is actually quite good; it's just so frustrating to watch them look lost at the plate and seemingly have no offensive plan. Vladdy and Kirk have been playing WAY below their capabilities offensively and everyone has lost their power. It's very odd. I can't remember being this frustrated at a team and I've watched some pretty awful Jays teams..

I agree with that. They seem to have lost the looseness and swagger they had last season offensively while the pitching and defence has improved.

I definitely didn?t find them as frustrating to watch last year. There was a bit of a joy to it.

I wonder how much of it was the pressure of being favourite to win the AL east or something. Not sure they?ll have the added benefit of both Yankees and Sox being so weak again either in future.

Schneider is a moron.  Pulling Berrios in the 4th when he is dealing.  Plan over execution....

If not worst, certainly unluckiest. Getting flashbacks to last seasons playoff game 2 there. He makes a decision and it immediately goes as wrong as it can.

I thought the exact same thing. Redux of last year. Berrios was pitching fine and Kikuchi let in 2.

This team also just straight up can't hit. Also that out one Vladdy was so unnecessary. What a shit show.

Both times he pulled one of his best starters who was dealing and it imploded.

Approaching midnight here and I?m a bit tired. I?m not sure i have the stomach to fight through the lack of sleep for this. It feels over.
