2024-25 General Trades and Signings

Removing numbers completely, what does more damage to the roster and the team's chance of success?

Losing McAvoy for a good portion of the season or losing Swayman for a good chunk? I would say that losing your #1 goaltender would hurt more. Especially because the goaltending depth is low. (I still can't believe they traded Ullmark with no contract for Swayman).
Goalies are the most important players on a team.

I wonder if Swayman's ask of 8.5M AAV ask is on a shorter term.

From what I?ve read, the only thing they?ve agreed on is an 8 year term - and Swayman wanted that from the beginning.

8x8M seems high for a goalie with a career-high 44 games. It's not unimaginable that the Bruins do decide to recalibrate.

They?ve moved a lot closer to his reported demands than he?s moved off his ask. They clearly don?t have much interest in recalibrating. It?s just a matter of time until they up their offer again.

Swayman blinked some, but got the Bruins to move way closer to his position from where they reportedly started.

Jeremy says, ?Thank you, Joonas(, for sucking so hard)?

Woll needs to play healthy but this might be a massive move to have signed him to an extension

Woll could roughly equal the number of NHL games Swayman has played in a couple of more seasons and be earning $3.67M for two more seasons after that - to the potential end of the Matthews contract window.
If Woll is playing well, that could look like a very good deal.

But with the goalie position and his injury history, it is tough to predict with a lot of reliability so there is fair risk it doesn't turn out which justifies the deal being lower. I think it is a fair deal for both parties.

Hildeby is waivers exempt during Stolarz 2 year deal. With the 2 Russians developing, they've done a pretty good job of stabilizing the position (as nuts as it is to predict).

Ummm... yeah. I was really hoping the Leafs were going to target Shea Theodore this offseason with money they wouldn't use to re-sign McCabe.
