Well, the value for Robertson has been set if the Leafs feel like they need to move on. And it's not great.I had him ear marked as a potential flyer to kick tires on (playmaking pivot but more of a winger now with no NHL path on the Preds)

I'd just keep him and find places to play him. Tomasino was a higher draft pick and can play a premium position (maybe) and is a righty (also at a semi-premium).Well, the value for Robertson has been set if the Leafs feel like they need to move on. And it's not great.
I don't disagree right now but it's also a results-focused league. Leafs are fighting for first place in the Atlantic. While Berube's said all the right things about Robertson the other day if we go into January and he's still playing at a 1 point per 18 games pace it's not really going to matter how hard he's working something will have to give.I'd just keep him and find places to play him.
He'll get to know the SBA popcorn and Philippe Myers really well.I don't disagree right now but it's also a results-focused league. Leafs are fighting for first place in the Atlantic. Yeah. He basically has until there are enough vets who are healthy enough to fill out the lineup. If he can't produce by then, he'll be spending a lot of time watching games or in a different uniform.I don't disagree right now but it's also a results-focused league. Even keeping him in the press box could be a difficult task soon enough though if the Leafs continue to carry 8 defencemen. He'll get to know the SBA popcorn and Philippe Myers really well.
1) Domi certainly needs to play better but his contract situation makes any conversation about his place either in the line-up or even on the roster basically pointless. That's not the case for Robertson. It's kind of funny how many posts and focus there is on Robertson and not much of a word about Domi who hasn't gotten a pt in 13 games and played mostly with Nylander.
I don't get why it's funny - there's a comparison between Robertson and Tomasino. It's kind of funny how many posts and focus there is on Robertson and not much of a word about Domi who hasn't gotten a pt in 13 games and played mostly with Nylander.
Would you prefer sad? Robertson is the whipping boy. So Domi's last 13 are excused?I don't get why it's funny - there's a comparison between Robertson and Tomasino.
Domi's been injured, let's see what he does when he gets back.
So he can produce with Nylander as a winger but hasn't when he's not. He doesn't get a pass doing nothing because he's not playing with Willy.2) Domi actually produced very well with Nylander when he was playing with him. They were split up before game 10. Through 9 games Domi led the team in 5-on-5 assists (5) and was in a 4-way tie (along with Marner, OEL, and Knies) for 1st in points (5) while playing the least amount of ice-time of the group. His points/60 with Nylander this season in 111 minutes is 2.70, a rate considerably higher than any other Leaf right now. For context Marner, who is having an incredible season, is only scoring at 2.06 / 60 right now at 5-on-5 while Nylander is at 2.46. Now I'm not saying that those numbers would have continued if they stayed together (almost absolutely not) but still his production with Nylander was definitely not an issue.
Ok, I mean I guess sure. I don't really get what this is about though. The lack of criticism toward Domi recently has nothing to do with anyone thinking he's playing great. It's because he hasn't played in a week and a half. People were absolutely pointing out his poor performance before he went on the IR.So he can produce with Nylander as a winger but hasn't when he's not. He doesn't get a pass doing nothing because he's not playing with Willy.
I like everybody and hope they all do well. Like I said, I find it funny how much chatter there's been about 89 and literally nothing about others. That's all. Domi is also here to contribute and has done nothing without 88 and nothing in his last 13 games. He makes what 3 1/2 times what 89 makes. FunnyOk, I mean I guess sure. Like I get you really like Robertson and you're trying to defend him by saying other players aren't performing to expectations too and that's fine and all but a scoring forward is going to be a whipping boy when he has 1 point in 18 games. That's a fact in any market.
As the coaches and GMs say when they're fired: "It is a results oriented business ..."Ok, I mean I guess sure. I don't really get what this is about though. As cw mentioned, he also has a track record of being able to produce in the NHL. Robertson really only has one season where he can say that. He's struggled this season, sure, and he has been criticized for that, but there's more reason to believe he'll bounce back than there is with Nick.I like everybody and hope they all do well. Domi needs to play better, but he's injured right now so I don't really see a comparison between Domi and Robertson right now. He'll get commentary if he still produces nothing once he's back as well. And I mean, only one of them has overtly asked to not be here.Would you prefer sad? Robertson is the whipping boy. So Domi's last 13 are excused?

It was reported that Domi had been trying to play through his lower body injury and they ultimately concluded he needed the rest to recover. As cw mentioned, he also has a track record of being able to produce in the NHL.
