2024-25 NHL Thread

That Oilers Panthers game on Amazon last night was so fun to watch. Pretty much everything Amazon has been doing has been entertaining.

I rarely watch games during the regular season not involving the Leafs. I find myself turning the TV on Mondays and Thursdays just to watch the Amazon broadcast. The picture quality is glorious, the entire broadcast is just amazing.

Amazon is also showing the PWHL games on Tuesdays, might have to check that out tonight too.

I didn't know about PWHL. Going the check that out too. Thanks. Hopefully Amazon can swoop into the NHL and do more games and raise the standard through the entire league.

I would be overjoyed if Amazon secured the NHL rights for Canada. I'm sure it's going to cost more than a Amazon Prime membership to watch every Leaf game and any national games. I'm ok with that if they keep up the quality with their current broadcasts.

Right now the only way to watch every Leaf game is to subscribe to TSN and Sportsnet which is $400 a year. That's the least expensive way to watch hockey right now. I am subscribed to SN/TSN through Amazon Prime because our household just doesn't watch broadcast TV.

The way I see this going is Amazon getting the online streaming rights and SN/TSN getting the traditional cable TV rights.

Total shot distance of maybe 4 feet - about half oh which came from the initial shot.
And because xG is calculated with simple distance (for the most part) bereft of context, Luke Schenn tallied 1.22 ixG that night, for a clean lead on his team, even though any one of us could've made those saves. Anyway, just wanted to throw shade at Brady Tkachuk being an analytics superstar.
