Assuming a Kerfoot trade, I think we're at something like this:
Bunting-Matthews-Marner
Nylander-Tavares-Jarnkrok
Engvall-Kampf-NAK
Robertson-Gaudette-Malgin
Simmonds
I'd like to see Kampf at 4C, but I really don't think there's been any indication from either the team or media folks that that's under consideration at all so until we hear otherwise I'm going to assume he's sticking at 3C at least to start. This group essentially keeps the top line in tact, swaps Kerfoot for Jarnkrok, keeps some form of the Kampf checking line in tact, and then replaces a mostly useless 4th line with one that could potentially actually produce offence on a relatively consistent basis.
I think the 2-3-4 RWers are somewhat interchangeable. I wouldn't be shocked at all to see NAK at least get a shot on the 2nd line at some point to see if he could have a mini-Bunting type of impact with Tavares+Nylander. I'm not really holding my breathe that he'll be a consistent part of that line but we'll probably see get him spurts of action there from time to time. Jarnkrok should easily be able to swap from the 2nd line to a checking 3rd line with a little more ease than Kerfoot could. Malgin's gonna surprise people this season, that's my big hot take.
This roster leaves about $1.9mil with Sandin still to sign. Adding another bargain bin option like Heinen/Milano/Rodrigues would mean 1) they'd need to sign for maximum $1mil and Simmonds would likely need to be waived, 2) the team would need to go with 12 forwards only, or 3) Holl would need to get dealt and replaced with Benn at the 7D.
