I was an advocate for giving Samsonov the game last night to see if maybe the little break helped hit the reset button. Obviously it did not. The next back to back is coming up quickly on Tue/Wed. Games against LA and Anaheim. I don't think they should play Jones both games and really don't want Samsonov starting for a long time, so something has to give - right? Petruzelli or Beast or someone else...who's it going to be?
Samsonov needs to get some AHL time whether it be via conditioning stint or waivers. If it is true that he has to agree to go down for conditioning, I can't see how he could refuse at this point.
My guess though is they stick with what they've got and play Samsonov in Anaheim. They probably punt the decision until after the road trip.
