Seriously you guys, you ARE watching this, right?  Gardiner with TWO crap clearing attempts, and when he finally does get it out on the 3rd try it doesn't get deep ... and then tie game.

I do like Gardiner, but honest to God, claiming he's not bad defensively is just ridiculous.

Clearing attempts have been a problem for the entire defence all season long. I find it hard to believe that all of our defencemen are just incapable of doing it successfully.

Even if he did, those 2 failed attempts would not prove you right.

You're an evidence-based guy.  Go back through game tapes and count em up.  There will be dozens of examples.

Can you stop with this? Reimer played terribly, the Leafs played bad. That's how it went.

The Leafs are still playing bad. Bernier is playing great.

Except Reimer wasn't terrible. He was merely ordinary instead of extraordinary, and the Leafs couldn't manage with only ordinary goaltending.

I've already used the evidence that the Leafs possession game is best when he's on the ice.  How are they getting these shot attempts if he's so bad at getting it out of his own end?  Because he's actually very good at getting it out.  Obviously he still makes defensive mistakes, it's unrealistic not to expect them.

Two goals in the 1st.  I blame the goalie.

How about them Leafs.  Team falling apart.  Bernier comes back and they completely no show in front of him.  23-6 are the shots in the FIRST BLOODY PERIOD.

Whatever.  After that last little display, I'll lay off Gardiner and go back to boring you all to tears by ragging on Phaneuf.

All sorts of wow.  That's a penalty on JVR?  What the hell dion?  Seriously, this is the guy that gets a 7 year extension, man alive.

Bad hockey team.

I can actually understand him hesitating not wanting to hit his own man there - but it's still bad even if I can understand the thought process.

And what's Bernier doing there?  Looks like he doesn't want to go down in the butterfly which means it's probably hurting.
