Canadiens vs. Maple Leafs - Oct. 9th, 7:00pm - SN, Fan 590

Montreal and 400 hour pregames. The intro music for their team was so slow it felt like watching a slideshow of your great aunts trip to Witchita

What advantage does IR have as opposed to DTD?

Opens up a roster spot on a non-emergency basis.

I guess then my question is LTIR vs. IR?  Does IR still count against the cap?

Yeah. And it?s only 7 days minimum. LTIR is 24 or 10 games, whichever comes first.
LTIR is 10 games AND 24 days minimum. That's why all players currently on it will miss 11 games.

No. It?s or. I?ve read the CBA. It?s pretty clear it?s or. It?s just that usually guys on LTIR take longer than that to get game ready.

NHL Hockey Operations Guidelines
https://www.nhl.com/info/hockey-operations-guidelines#:~:text=A%20player%20placed%20on%20Injured,and%20participate%20in%20practice%20sessions.
"A player placed on Injured Reserve is ineligible to compete in NHL games for a period of not less than seven days."

I?m not questioning the IR rules. I?m questioning if he has in fact been placed on IR.

How else can they add Hildeby as a 24th player to their roster? Emergency?

Yeah. Emergency recall.

Okay. To me, that suggests he wasn?t placed on IR when Hildeby was brought up, at the very least.
