Canucks vs. Maple Leafs - Jan. 20th, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

We have a 40 yo d-man playing way too many minutes. Bert and Domi a bust, we need to make some moves. Why is Reaves not with the Marlies getting conditioning, he has two more years.

Where is Tre? Is he going to do anything?

Just leaving the team out to dry. Welcome to Burke in Pitts 2.0.

I wonder if Shanny and Tre keep their jobs if we don't make the playoffs.

We really don't like to screen the goalie.

Because Zadorov, Myers. We're too soft to do so
Leaf players take so much physical abuse around the net. I wish our defenders punished opposing forwards the same way.

I appreciate McCabe and Benoit trying, but it's not near enough. I miss Schenn. Zadorov would have been a huge add and I don't believe the "couldn't afford" nonsense.
They couldn't afford him because Calgary wasn't retaining salary. Klingberg didn't go on LTIR til later. So you can choose to not believe that fact.

Honestly if Shanahan fired Treliving, I?d be pleased.

It?ll never happen, but he?s just an awful GM.

Between the two of Treliving & Keefe, I'd say Treliving bears more responsibility than Keefe.
I'm not a gigantic Keefe fan. I don't mind him.

They're in a wildcard position now. They could easily be out of the playoff teams before the All Star break. When that happens, media and fans will heat up looking for someone to take the fall. Treliving will probably try another coach.

New coach could have the All Star break to get his head around the team.

I'm with a few and have been for some time: I would not waste a lot of young assets trying to help this team this season. They're not good enough and would take too many young assets they do not have enough of to fix this team up to be a true contender. Ideally, they would be a seller at the deadline and maybe get some help for the seasons ahead.

I agree with your take. I think you sell what you can and punt this season. I get you?re wasting a year of Matthews, but come on, even if they make the playoffs, this team is going nowhere.

Say what you want about Dubas, but he wasn?t afraid to make mistakes and then admit he made a mistake and try to get out of it somewhat gracefully. I?m not going to do much research but an example like Nick Ritchie comes to mind.

I just have a hard time believing that Treliving will try to turn Domi and Bertuzzi into anything.

My gut is saying he?s going to make a terrible trade to keep the team as contenders (pretenders).

In business and in pro sports, all management makes mistakes.
The good managers admit them and fix them quicker.

I fear your gut will be right.

There is nearly half a season to go.
Only 4 of 32 teams are more than 7 points out of a wildcard playoff spot.

There is not a lot of talent to pick over to make a deal - if that is something that they elect to do. Even the UFA market this summer doesn't look that hot - given a bunch will be re-signed before July 1.

Bless his heart, as he has done more than an adequate job being thrust as the starter while being the third stringer, but the Jones Cinderella story has struck midnight.

Here's hoping the team can keep afloat from now until the All-Star Break, and hopefully still in a playoff position, at which time Woll will *hopefully* be close to returning.
