Knies has really hit a wall.  Disappointing season, TBH.

Revisting that Knies + 1st for MAF + Hagel would be kind of interesting right now.  I still like Knies but he looks like he should be in the AHL right now

Bingo.  They had no choice but to stick him him in the lineup because they've got zero options at forward in the system.  Classic rushed development.

Exactly and who can you blame for that?

What an absolute joke of an effort.  Zadorov going on a forecheck and taking on both Nylander and Brodie.

Why Treliving didnt aquire him I'll never understand

They blew all the cap space on a bunch of players who have contributed nothing.

The one mistake that also was made was resigning Sammy I told you last year he sucks. Part of the cap space and his salary could have been spent to try and get an actual #1 goalie. Whether that was doable who knows. Instead they looked at Sammy's one season and figured he was the answer and resigned him. Mistake. Also Tre didn't have much to go for. Klingberg was a gamble but Bertuzzi and Domi not so much were some of the better free agents. He addressed the grit by adding these 2 which hasn't worked. Problems all stemmed from Dubas' transactions and overpayments plain and simple and to boot the future doesn't look promising.

There was no one out better than Sammy and to Tre's credit he only signed him for a year.

The rest of his moves have, to say the least, not panned out.

Knies is 21 and in his first full nhl season. I think he can be cut some slack.

See my next post.  You're right, though, it's disappointment relevant to the power forward hype.

Yeah I don?t disagree with your sentiment.

Honestly all my frustration is with Treliving and the garbage moves he made this off-season. I had no interest in him as a GM, and so far he?s pretty much lived up my low expectations. I don?t think of him any higher than Nonis at this point.
Agreed

Just to be clear.  I hate how the summer went down.  I would rather Dubas still be our GM and I do not like Treliving.  But he's our GM now.  We are going to be stuck with him for least 2 coaches before he gets canned.    Firing Keefe doesn't fix that this is a poorly constructed roster.

I would also like to throw some pretty glaring eyes at Nylander.  You signed your big extension.  You haven't played like you deserve it since signing it.  Mind you if Keefe could stop playing him with the two anchors in Bertuzzi and Tavares that would be lovely.

We all know who.  And we all know his big mistake was going all-in about 2 seasons too soon.

No argument from me.

Anyway, it is crystal clear that no matter what happens between now and the trade deadline, Leafs cannot be buyers.

Bertuzzi and Domi may be crapping the bed but they have had playoff success and you can sell that to googly-eyed GMs at the deadline.  At least get a couple of picks for them.  If the Leafs then go on to make a wild card I would be totally happy with letting the chips fall where they may with Robertson plus Random Marlie taking their places.

I'm not 100% who was available but if nothing decent why not make a trade for someone proven? Maybe he did he only knows but Sammy was not the answer. I like Woll and too bad he's hurt but like I told you too early to tell if he's the answer. They should have thrown in Hildeby what the f is there to lose. He doesn't play well back to the minors. Some of you may recall a guy by the name of Ken Dryden getting called mid season for the Habs. How did that turn out. At least try him. Jones played well not going to disagree but his game has regressed badly last week or so.

I get that he's slated to start tomorrow, but this really speaks volumes about Samsonov.

If they're in a playoff spot, you go for it. You don't throw away any years with Matthews. They don't need to sell the farm.

Dubas ?s part of the reason this is a poorly constructed roster and I'm not even going to go on about Nylander because you know what I think he's worth. Most sites I've been on had him between 9-10 million but Leafs will be Leafs always overpaying.

Vacouver is clogging the neutral zone and the Leafs are dumping pucks in and are nowhere near on time to get possession on the forecheck.  The the list of things that this team isn't is way longer than the list of things that it is.

Not overly physical.  Not fast.

Matthews isn't good enough for this team to be a one line team when our B-list players generate nothing.

Cuthbert and Simpson are really terrible.  That goal was entirely on bad positioning from Demko, not Myers screening him.

Seriously get some perspective.

Have you seriously forgetter the garbage from JFJ to Burke to Nonis?

It was more than a decade of absolute garbage. But Dubas is somehow terrible? Come on. Enough of this crap.
