Carlyle Extended/Randy's Revenge

LOL.  That extension is hilarity.  Hey, you sucked at your job, here's an extension.  That also worked out fantastically the last time we extended a coach with a mediocre record.

Yet again, an organization that demands accountability doesn't do this.  From a very small standpoint I could understand not firing Carlyle if you feel that the roster is the problem.  But the extension makes absolutely no sense.

This means that we will see a overhaul with the roster. if you aint changing the driver, you better be changing the passengers.

I don't get angry about sports, sorry to disappoint you.

I'm angry now, but, I imagine by the time the season starts, I'll see the comedy in the situation. I'm confident the Leafs will be good for a laugh.

I will say that, some sense of satisfaction out of getting this right aside, I am very curious to see how this is going to be spun and someone, Shanahan or Nonis or whoever, is going to have to make a very convincing case as to what the plan is to narrow the huge talent gap between Toronto and some of the teams we're watching now. If it's via trades and free agency, the team is screwed no matter how the coach is.

????????.... IS Management friggen blind. Randy lost the team, this will only lead to more of the same for next season. I am not looking forward to Hockey for the first time in 40 yrs.
Whats next messed up player moves. i guess Karmarov wont be signed, we all know that spots for Orr. Crap I don't want to see it but Reimers gone and our net was fine. Gardner will be great, but not for us. maybe its time to stop watching the game and stop suffering.

I can't effing believe this. This is beyond being a joke.

So the young whipping boys - Kadri, Gardiner, Reimer (was going anyway) are toast in Toronto and will flourish elsewhere. This will be the typical Toronto handling of their draft picks and will continue in an era where the draft is even more the only path to success.

I am so peed off.

Maybe Shanahan and Nonis put out some feelers and couldn't find anyone except Ron Wilson who would be willing to coach the Leafs next season?

You really think so?

How so? They have no flexibility.

Really I only see Clarkson not being moved because no one is such an a$$hat to assume that contract especially after such a horrid season. Everyone else has value. Didn't Tim Leiweke come out and say "no one is un tradable" just a couple of weeks ago.

I keep hope!

Well, I hope so, obviously. I don't know if Carlyle is the man for that job but I'd certainly be on board with that decision.

My problem is not with the extension, if they where keeping him they where always going to do an extension because otherwise he'd have become a lame duck.

My issue is with trying to justify in any way that he did a remotely competent job since his hiring.

I've never understood the lame duck angle.  Players play during last year of their contracts all the time.

At this point, me too. Playoffs schmayoffs.
