Cox: Turris to the Leafs is a possibility

It's about the December 1st signing deadline for RFAs, I think he ends up getting traded at some point but if he's not signed by December 1st, he can't play at all this year which isn't in the best interests of the Coyotes or Kyle.

I guess it might be early to say this, but this entire saga looks a bonehead move on Turris' part.

Taking the high road might have saved him from sitting out a few months, possibly burning bridges with his organization, and creating a ton of negative publicity for himself.

I think it's entirely too early to say that without seeing the contract or where Turris actually ends up playing.

If he is traded sure.

Otherwise?  Seems like a real boneheaded move (the holdout).

That's basically like Bozak holding out for us to get his deal.  Quite useless imo.

1.2 this year and 1.6 next year for Turris, 1.4M cap hit.

All of this, for THAT!?!?

Looks like Turris and his agent screwed up.

No, they were holding out for a trade.  The $4 mil was likely an attempt to get the move to happen but it all backfired on them real good.

So here he is.. might play but they will probably make him play a while before moving him just to further prove the point.

I'm not sure it backfired entirely, even if they prove a point about their rights etc., if Kyle gets traded any time soon his camp might consider it a win for his future, tough to say so far.

................ IF he gets traded.

I'd say it's a pretty safe bet that he does. The team knows he's not happy. His teammates know he's not happy. The coaching staff knows he's not happy. There's no benefit to the Coyotes to hold on to him for any longer than they have to. I won't go as far to say that he's a locker room cancer, but, given how things played out and how unhappy everyone knows he is, his presence is almost certainly going to have a negative influence and his unhappiness is likely to negatively affect his on ice performance, which will further weaken his value as a player and as a tradable asset. I doubt he makes it to Christmas as a Coyote.

Probably, but it might go longer than Christmas just because I think Maloney is showing this kid and his agent he won't be forced into making a move.  I think its that plus his value can't be great right now so a solid month or so of play might help matters for both sides.

Yeah he might be a negative room presence, but its not like he's got much clout in there, plus guys like Doan aren't going to let him be a distraction.

But if this is about him wanting to be traded, and always has been, then that's the only real factor. I understand the idea that if he'd signed before camp he'd have a few more dollars in his pocket but if he'd signed before camp and he genuinely wanted to be dealt then he'd have even less leverage. The only thing Turris had going for him was the denial of his services, if that didn't work he had no better play.

So, yeah, if he gets dealt then it did work out the way he wanted and, if the Coyotes aren't inclined to move him now, it's not like they would have been in camp either.

Is it possible Turris spends some time in the AHL to geet up to speed?  Does he have to clear waivers to do so?  If he can spend time in the minors, it may lessen the 'lockeroom cancer' argument somewhat.

Kypreos is tweeting that Turris still wants out of Phoenix, so I think a trade is a definite possibility, i'm not suggesting it's the Leafs, just a trade out of Phoenix.

I wonder if Phoenix was on Komisarek's no trade list....
