Somebody here said before the season ended that the Leafs only free agent pick up is going to be Clarkson and it's going to be a mistake - I wish I could remember who that was.

Everyone?

He may have has a good first 2 periods - I unfortunately missed them. I'm not looking for reasons not to like him as a player - believe me I'd rather be happy with his performance - I'm not looking for him to suck.

Oh I understand. I just meant even in one of his better games in the past month he was just an ok 3rd line checker.

I remember when people were pissed when Reichel was getting 3 mil+ as a third liner, and he was putting up 50 points - I doubt we'll see anything close to that from Clarkson.

I still believe he will contribute. You want Clarkson personalities on your team. The cap hit will hurt less as the years go by. He's an amazing third liner but I suppose we all want more then that.

Amazing? Mason Raymond and Bolland at the beginning of the year as a third line were amazing. Clarkson at his best so far when not taking excessive penalties and unnecessary suspensions is average. But usually on the side of below average.

If you look at that tying goal, if Phaneuf just holds his position in front of the net he's able to take either Coyote coming from either side. Instead he goes fishing around the back of the net and leaves the Coyote to come out free. Nice if Clarkson would have been able to pick him up but that's pretty far down. Nice if Reimer stops that too.  Bad goal but Dion makes bad decisions all the time. A soon -to-be $7 mil body with a 99 cent brain.

It starting to hurt watching Dion make so many mistakes with his fat contract looming.. Seeing him on 24/7 picking out a suit and going out of his luxury house with his luxury car with his hollywood wife - just made him look like a prima donna. Maybe there is a reason he is so disliked in the league.

Clarkson thought about checking him there but didn't want to leave the slot wide open for the d man to enter - right decision. Reimer was perfect the rest of the game, hard to blame him.

I know eh, you just know that Mats Sundin lived in a cardboard box right next to the arena when he was a Leaf.  What a jerk - wearing a suit, can you imagine?  Do ANY other hockey players wear suits?  I've never seen any come into an arena in a suit, TBH.  Oh look at his luxury car - Gary Roberts probably drives a car he built himself to run off his own sweat and blood.  And can you even IMAGINE marrying someone you love?  If they happen to be an actress then they can screw right off - if it comes to a decision between being in love or living up to internet mongrels' expectations, I'm going mongrel every damn time.

Clarkson made two terrific defensive plays in the 3rd, one was against Kennedy right in front of the net and the other cam about 2 minutes later, both negating good scoring chances.  Those plays, and Liles and Rielly hustling to stop a breakaway in OT, were the reasons it got to an SO at all.

That does feel like a vaguely familiar overwhelming sentiment.

The media pushed the signing as if it were inevitable.

To be fair, I think it was a Condo.

Yeah... if I made 6+mil a year I know I'd give it all to the soup kitchen and live in a small house outside the city and commute to work in my Prius (I splurged a little to save the environment)

And I almost forgot. I'd wear my uniform at all times so that I don't have to wash my own clothes or try to be attractive to my beautiful wife. Did I say beautiful? I meant homely. Obviously as a professional I should abstain from the hotties.

It did seem sort of by design on the part of the 24/7 crew. There's a pretty obvious contrast they were setting up between Detroit/Toronto as teams and cities.

I don't want to take away anything from Reimer - no goalie can be perfect for an entire game, but that was a lousy goal, he should have stopped that.

I suppose, although we got to see Daniel Alfredsson's fancy new house too.

I'm gonna guess that was sarcasm  ;)

Hmmm, you should've seen Sundin's mansion when he lived here. All athletes live super rich lives. Far beyond our imaginations. They seem like good ol home bread boys but they like celebrities they would't touch you with a ten foot pole. NBA and NFL are even worse.
