Dave Bolland

Overpaying for David Clarkson and Dion Phaneuf was deemed necessary by Leafs management, badly as the Clarkson signing has gone thus far. But if it takes overpaying to keep Bolland, they have to do it. His value cannot be statistically quantified. But his value should be unquestioned.

Says Simmons.

Bolland's approaching bands I don't like because of the fans status.

Haha. Do not question the value of a guy who contributes bad defence and middling offence.  Question other things, but never that.

Kadri may have lots of quantifiable value, but is downright lacking when it comes to unquantifiable value (i.e. the kind of value that cannot be questioned). So trade him.

I think most of the players would be better and play better under a real NHL coach.

Simmons is a joke.
They would be better off using some of that money to bring Komarov back.  His value should be unquestioned.

I don't know. I man love me some Bolland. I'd try to keep him if it wasn't a complete overpay.

I get he is still suffering from the injury but he still can provide the leadership qualities in many different ways, right? Not sure he does that. I know he scored Stanley Cup winning goal, but so did Maxime Tallbot (Pitt, 2009), Frantisek Kaberle (Car, 2006) or Ruslan Fedotenko (TB, 2004) and those names do not scream leadership at me....

We're comparing leadership abilities,  by who has scored a stanley cup winning goal now? Bolland has a ton of leadership ability. He played very well here before the injury. Its pretty easy to tell its disappeared since returning, but at least he's put in the work and is trying to put the injury behind him. He probably should have stayed on the shelf the rest of the season. I really hope he returns as a Leaf and proves all the disbelievers wrong next season!

I hope we let him walk.  We can't afford 2 Clarkson's.  He may very well get over this injury, but we can't afford the risk that he doesn't.

He has so much leadership ability that a team that has won the Cup 2 out of the last 4 years thought Brian Bickell was more valuable to them.

That's Brian "3 assists in 56 games this season" Bickell.

Dave Bolland is probably the only person responsible for the Blackhawks championships.  Notice how they haven't won a Cup since he left?
