Terrible name

Oh, it's worse that you think. His first name is Dakota!

MarkEdwardsHP: The #Leafs take a player I like a lot. Dakota Joshua. We had him ranked 76th overall - size, smarts and skill. Possible steal at this pick

Also, drafted ahead of a guy named Clinston Franklin. What's up with names these days? First name last names and last name first names!

Well, I messed that one up. Forgiven?

Leafs are going pretty heavy on the NCAA guys in this draft. Just took another one - Nolan Vesey. LW headed to U of Maine.

I'm still trying to figure out Thatcher Demko

The Leafs haven't had too much success with their college-bound picks. Hopefully that turns around.

At least this isn't the NFL, or we might have drafted Cory Lekkerkerker, Curry Burns, D'Brickashaw Furguson or Tshimanga Biakabutuka.

Seriously, football names are the best names.

Oh, there were some fantastic names taken in this draft that haven't been mentioned yet, including:

Elvis Merzlikins
Kaapo Kahkonen
Zachary Nagelvoort
Joonas Lyytinen
Luc Snuggerud
Pontus Sjalin
Chandler Yakimowicz

And, one of my personal favourite, seeming innocuous names until you say it out loud - Noah Rod.

You left out the best one: Ha Ha Clinton-Dix

He is Green Bay's first round pick this year.

Happy about adding a physical defenseman, right hand shot, minor cap savings, concerns about Gunnarsson's health.  Unhappy about losing Gunnarsson as an individual and a pick as an asset.

If Kulemin is gone, who's our longest serving drafted asset now?  Reimer...?

I believe it is Phaneuf

Kessel has been here longer.

I'm guessing that by "drafted asset" HS means a player the team drafted.

I didn't read HS' post closely, just saw the reply and assumed

oops..

If you're talking about simply being in the organization, yes, Reimer (and Holzer). In terms of who made their NHL debut first, it's actually Kadri.
