Ducks @ Leafs - Dec. 16th, 7:30pm - TSN4, Fan 590

If he's your only centre/line getting out of the D-zone readily, I might use him that way too. Kadri's line is the one causing the Duck icings too, so Bozak comes on for those.

I'd still be starting him in the offensive zone, allowing his line to keep the puck there, instead of having to expend some getting it there. His line is also on pace for like 13-14 minutes tonight, despite easily being their best and most consistent.

As much as I like that they're winning games, I can only recall 1 game where the win was convincing.

That could just be my short memory though....

Tampa, Calgary (despite the third), both 4-1 wins against Detroit were pretty good games I thought.

The SO win against the wings and the Washington game were pretty bad and the other wins weren't great but I don't think they were terrible either. The shots got a little out of hand against Vancouver, after the score went to 4-1, but when it got 4-2, they tightened up again.

I could be wrong though, It's just how I remember them.

Yes, the deployment is depressing. Saving them for the third?

I'd mostly agree with that. Tonight is Detroit SO game bad so far.

Maybe, but, I don't know. I feel like it's probably more a result of Carlyle's sometimes dogmatic insistence on line matching.

If it helps to keep Getzlaf in check, ok.

As much as I couldn't be happier with the winning streak I'm not planning the parade. Seems to be more hustle, better fore checking more effort etc but I still see a lot of the same things we saw against Boston in the playoffs. One question I have for all of you and this coincides with the blown lead against the Bruins. How confident are you when we have a lead or better yet what kind of lead are you comfortable with late in a game? I myself don't feel a 2-3 goal lead in the third period per say is safe and that is due to the way they play and have for a long time and that is too loose.

Are you kidding me Bernier? You let that in?

Blame the 5 that were out on the PP. The same 5 who should have given up z short handed goal ghe previous PP. Odd man break on the PP WTF.

Noooo.....I'm just gonna blame Bernier.

Also, Franson wandering around in no mans land didn't help ( and no one covered for whatever kind of pinch that was )

Sure, but that doesn't mean you can't use them when Getzlaf isn't on the ice - especially when they're controlling the play like that.

I know the Oilers won this way in the 80's didn't hurt to have Gretzky Messier Fuhr etc but I just feel they have to tighten things up defensively to become a top team.

It was also how most teams played in the 80s. That's a big part of why the Oilers were able to win.
