Not if the trailer is the 4th guy across the line and a defenseman.

Nah, Leafs put 'er into lockdown mode when they have a lead in the 3rd.

I'd say it depends on the system, but the way we always played was to skate back hard, covering anyone who was open and nearby. Wingers, based on positioning, typically covered the guys coming in late before taking defensive assignments when the rush was done. The guy was right in front of Kessel and he didn't bother to try and catch up. Just a lazy play.

But Timonen was also like right beside Bozak.

Ottawa - Leafs down 1-0 early in the 2nd period. Ottawa scores 2 minutes later.
Boston - Game tied 0-0. Boston scores 30 seconds later.
LA - Trailing 1-0. Leafs score 4 minutes later on the PP.
Ottawa - Leafs up 3-1. Ottawa scores 4 minutes later (game goes to SO)
NYI - Leafs up 2-0. Islanders score 5 minutes later.
Boston - 0-0, 1:48 into the game.
Calgary - 0-0; 1:28 into the game.
Pittsburgh - 1-1
Not one of those fights was in the defense of a player.

And he was also the fourth guy on the rush. Based on the flow of the play, Bozak's job was to prevent a three on two from happening and the wingers' job was to take the Flyers' D.

There were already 3 Leafs back - JVR, Phaneuf and Gunnarsson. JVR was taking his man to the net, Phaneuf had the 2nd Flyers player going to the net in the middle, and Gunnarsson had the puck carrier. If Bozak takes Timonen instead of staying in the middle of the puck carrier and Timonen, maybe it doesn't happen.

Possibly, but I don't blame Bozak for following the puck on that particular play.
Anyway, hopefully the top line wakes up in the third - save for a few great rushes by JVR they have been pretty noticeably bad tonight.

Just for the record, here's what I mean:
