Game 1 - Habs @ Leafs - Thursday Oct 6th 2011 - 19:00 EST - 2-0 Win

Watching a crowd of mostly 20-somethings clearly not get into BTO for 6 minutes...awesome.

That was a nice period overall.  Powerplay is still in complete disarray, but I'll be happy with that general effort anytime.  Lombardi looks really good.  Hopefully he jives with Kessel before too long.

I really dont like Kessel with the puck...he seems to want to slow everything down...which just lets everyone get into position

I think he'll figure that out eventually but yeah, he's far better with speed. I wonder if they would consider a less traditional notion of PP configurations and use Phil when the play starts from defensive and neutral zone faceoffs with the man advantage? Not a '1st' and '2nd' but two groups for different start points, relatively.

He almost deked out Price on his own.
I didnt mean he never makes the right decision he simply seems pre-occupied with 'settling the puck down' or getting the perfect setup...he just seems to get the puck then spends too much time deciding what to do with it

I'm impressed with Lombardi's play so far, also Frattin is playing a heck of a game, hitting when he can, playing a solid 2 way game.

And Komi dosen't look his usual bad.

I can only describe our PP as CURRENTLY HORRIFIC...

I thought it had better movement than last year but it's only game one, I'd give it some time.

There. I was more specific. :)

:)

I do mean it though, Connolly and MacArthur should help a bit when they're back and Gardiner is just a babe.

That's fair to say... but I also think he created quite a bit of his chances on his own last year. The toe drag seems to be getting a bit old though.

Gardiner might have the first game jitters but I haven't been impressed with his game so far tonight. His passes don't seem to be crisp.

I'm willing to cut the kids some slack.....and it's not as if Montreal is at 100% either so missing a couple guys should be make or break for us.

I'd say something similar though I definitely cut him some slack given it's his first real game and he seems to be a quick study.
