Game 19: Leafs @ Sens, 7:00pm - CBC

Why in the hell is Grabovski taking that faceoff in place of Bozak.  That was the only line that got scored on tonight, and he put them on in crunch time.  It blows my mind

They didn't deserve to win but man, I would have loved a point.

For all the talk around here about how bad the Sens supposedly are, they just passed the Leafs in the standings.

Two of Ottawa's goals tonight were 100% Gunnarsson's fault.  I think it's time for Liles or maybe even Komisarek to get back into the lineup in his place.

Heard somewhere that he still has a nagging injury and won't have it repaired til off-season.

The decision to have Grabo take that draw was truly awful, as was Grabo's attempt at winning it against a kid.

I think at the end of the day Scrivens needs to do better on the shot though and Gunnarsson and Kostka have earned themselves a seat in the pressbox.

Kostka did make a decent play on the equaliser though.

The Leafs were terrible from start to finish, in every aspect of the game. Imagine what would have happened if they played an NHL team?

This was so much like the Winnipeg game. The Leafs play like crap for a full 60 minutes, only this time, they were denied the points they didn't earn.

I've said this before, but the Leafs have an awful time against hard forechecking, in your face teams. They lack mobility and skill on the back end. There is always too much separation between the forwards and the defence. The D takes too long to move the puck and inevitably make a terrible low percentage pass and turn it over. I'm not even going to talk about the lack of a fore check. Kadri's line is the only line that consistently establishes pressure in the offensive zone. Sometimes the Leafs are far too defensive-conscious.

They need Liles and Gardiner back in the lineup. Say what you want about Liles but he can move the puck.

Why then with all the guys we have in the D corps is he playing.  If he's going to play like this he might as well have the surgery now.

True the way they played that faceoff (no Bozak, Scrivens juggling) was the direct cause but if I recall the Leafs had 3 players to one Ottawa guy there.  The rest of the game could've been played in the other end.

Maybe but Ottawa had a ton of guys in the neutral zone and the guys on the ice had been out there a while. I've seen lots of goalies hold that puck in a similar situation. If Scrivens didn't play the next shot like he was juggling pies it's academic.

It's his fault that Scrivens essentially threw the puck to Greening?

Leafs had a late PP and did nothing with it. Total team effort in this loss. Nobody to blame but themselves.

Really ??

Kostka had the least amount of minutes among defencemen tonight with 16:35. Wonder if Carlyle's love affair with him is fading. If so he could see some time in the pressbox or even back with the Marlies if Toronto decides to bring Gardiner up.

Come on now, two of those goals were complete flukes.  Even Greening was surprised as he said in his interview, give your head a shake and go watch the replay if your eyes deceived you the first time.

I don't know what you're asking me but I don't think it's Gunnar's fault Scrivens played the puck like a drunk T-Rex trying to catch a frog, no.

Didn't see the game, but came here and sorted through the GDT to see how it evolved. Pretty sad state of affairs - I had a feeling that they would lose. It just kind of set up that way. Ottawa without their number 1 dman, forward and goalie and Leafs don't really even show up, and a bad goal in the last minute to finish it.

Oh well.

Well, I think you're right about it not being Gunnar's fault, but it looked like Greening kicked the puck past Scrivens and then tapped it out of the air into the net. But Scrivens definitely didn't cover the puck up.
