Game 23: Devils @ Leafs - Mar. 4th, 7:00PM - SN, Fan 590

Big win, first two periods were slow and then the Leafs responded real well in the 3rd.  2 wins in a row is always nice.

Heh Carlyle shelved the 4th the rest of the night after the 2nd goal against according to Millen...got that right

Our very own Potvin29 noticed that a few pages ago.

So since starting the season 1-4-0 at the ACC they're 4-1-0 since. Clearly they've stopped selling tickets to corporations.

Maybe I'm actually Greg Millen?

"Hedberg had no chance on that goal"
"Reimer had no chance on that goal"

The Leafs' inability to put the puck into an empty net is often comical.

I think empty nets have a better save percentage against the Leafs this year than Ryan Miller.

It is and the best part is that we never really had a losing streak since the last winning streak.  Even though the team wasn't great for last 2 weeks it was W-L-W-L-W-L-W-W.

They only lost consecutive games twice this season, games 4-5 and games 8-9.  Ever since it's been single losses between wins and win streaks.  It hasn't always been pretty but I'm impressed, that is a nice recipe for a playoff spot if they can keep it up.

Kadri was good but I might've given 2nd star to McClement instead.  Scored the game-tying goal to get the team jump-started in the 3rd and led our perfect PK with 04:28.

Through two periods Kadri's line and Bozak's line each averaged a shade over six minutes per period. In the third Kadri has his ice-time cut to 4:21 while the Bozak group had 9+ minutes. I mean we won and everything but it just makes me wonder.

Defensive zone draws for Bozak, maybe?

Looking at the play-by-play report, he had 5 defensive zone draws in the 3rd and only won two of them. 3 for 11 in the defensive zone for the night. Kind of an odd night for him as the other 3 Leafs centres were all close to 60% or above it (Kadri was 58%).

I watched Carlyle's press conference after the game and he apparently wasn't very happy with Kadri's performance in the second period, which is what I'm assuming led to the decreased minutes in the third. Criticized him for trying to go one-on-four against the Devils and said something like he caused the parade of turnovers in the period. I thought that was a little odd until I remembered Leafs coaches weren't allowed to say nice things about him.

edit: Also the first (or second) question was something like what did you think of Kadri and his response was "You guys just want to anoint him, don't you?".
