Game 23 - Maple Leafs @ Stars 08:30pm

Oh boy not working so far....pass pass pass pass clear

They trying to get too fancy with all their confidence? Might need to simplify

Too much passing against a team that was doing a good job of taking away passing lanes.  The Leafs look like they are back to their slow-to-react selves in the offensive zone so far.

That's the second time the Dallas forward has skated into the zone backwards with the puck.  How is that not offside?

Because there is a specific exception to the offside rule that covers skating the puck in backwards.

"However, a player actually controlling the puck who shall cross the line ahead of the puck shall not be considered “off-side,” provided he had possession and control of the puck prior to his skates crossing the blue line."

As long as you control the puck, you can enter zone before it.  It's players without the puck or control that can't.

Gus made a big save on a partial breakaway (ON THE PENALTY KILL) and then had to cover the puck there as the Dallas player was in behind all four Leafs.  What the heck are they doing?

Interesting that that play gets called (I think he actually made a bit of an effort to avoid nailing Gus there) but they didn't call that one where he got hit from behind last game.
