Wife and I decided to watch "Horrible Bosses".

As crappy and stupid a movie as it was (and it was), I guess I made the right choice watching it over the game.

Not meaning this as any kind of insult - but if I had the choice, I could never choose to watch a movie over watching a Leafs game.

Your right. One was simply awful and gut wrenching to watch and made me want to wretch.

The other had Jennifer Aniston naked under a lab coat.

Fwiw I really enjoyed the first two periods, Aniston could have hung around in the third a bit though.

What a bunch of crap.

Thing is it is fun to watch Kessel right now but I still can't help but feel we traded away long term for short term and in the short term Boston is still better so what are we left with.

Short term? Has Kessel mentioned he's retiring soon? He's still only 24 isnt he?

Don't you get it yet? One trade where the Leafs gave up slightly more than they should have for an extremely good player is going to ruin the franchise for the next twenty years.

Kessel is Owen Nolan all over again. It's so obvious. It's not like Toronto has any chance of coming out of that trade receiving the best player in the deal or anything.

Tourettes or did you watch the game?
Hey I said the movie was bad, but Jen A. still has it going on.

Doom?

Pretty much the team is improved for sure but if we are beaten so consistently in these big games against a rival I don't see how we're supposed to contend any time soon.  I guess Reimer might have made that blocker save on Chara, or Schenn can learn how tie up Lucic's stick there for $3.6M, not much hope beyond that as far as getting the parade on before Kessel is UFIA and we have nothing from that deal.

Because he's clearly not enjoying being in Toronto and will obviously bolt the second he gets a chance to.  ::)

Just another case of the Stanley Cup Champions rolling over anybody that comes in their way. Why would we (Leaf fans) expect the Leafs to beat a team so hot right now running on all cylinders? We put up a better fight than the 7-0 game. Remember Boston sucked too and they stunk up their joint not too long ago. In year or two when Chara gets slow the sun will rise on the Leafs.

Could go either way.  Might be pretty sick of Toronto media by then.

C'mon, no one said the Leafs are as good as the Bruins right now but they skated with them pretty fair for the first two tonight and it's only one game against a crazy hot team that won the cup last year, it doesn't define anything on it's own but I thought the Leafs showed progress.

Chiarelli had one mean crystal ball at work to pull off that kind of swindle, get a top two pick and then win the cup, what a wizard... oh wait we have Colborne...

The Leafs have a player who's being touted as mvp right now, you'd rather not have him?

Nobody has been able to beat them all month, but we should have. Get a grip.

So trade our picks to a team and we're making progress on being able to beat them one day?

So you admit the deal was a swindle?

I said he's fun to watch right now I just worry that in the long term Boston will win 1+ Cups with the players from the deal and we will win zero.

Agreed. Boston could have been beaten tonight. The Leafs made a few basic mistakes to give it away.

Yes, Burke swindled Chiarelli into trading him this years leader in points and dumped that bum Kaberle while he was at it.

Who says Kessel won't re-sign in Toronto or wouldn't be flipped for useful pieces if not?

I really don't understand your scoring system though, does that mean Quebec didn't lose the Clark - Sundin trade?

If you find a close loss against the defending champs who essentially haven't lost all month simply awful and gut wrenching, you may not have the stomach to be a hockey fan, or it's gas.

Not to mention the fact that Burke didn't trade Chiarelli the large amount of pieces that make his team great.

Lucic, Chara, Thomas etc. were all there before the Kessel deal. If Boston wins this year or next year it's in large part due to what was already in place.

If Colborne, Kessel and Biggs (or is it Percy) are major contributors to Toronto's success in the future, then Toronto and Boston will likely both have made their teams better and therefore have won the trade.

As of the moment Kessel is the better player (although older) but Boston won the Cup (which had very little to do with Seguin).

I enjoyed that game...same people complaining I see.

Another loss to the Bruins tonight, and, apparently, it's all over but the crying. How they played tonight, or over the past few games or their record on the season is, apparently, meaningless. They can't beat the Bruins so far this season, therefore, everything they've done so far is crap. Or, at least, with the way some people are going on, it feels that way.

Hopefully the leafs can bouce back on Saturday.  They're saying that Optimus Reim will be on the bench.

I didn't get to see the game tonight, but I gather that the refs didn't help matters and Gus let in at least one soft goal.

With Reimer I think that the leafs are a different team.  Gus is proving himself to be unpredictable and unreliable, unfortunately.

I hoped it would be a little closer. Boston looks very good. I didn't mind the Leafs effort in terms of this not being a blow out.

Schenn being unable to lift Lucic's stick on that goal struck me as almost symbolic. Schenn is a 230+lb physically fit and strong young man. But Lucic had position and was just that much stronger. I was a little stunned that Schenn couldn't budge him. It was a bit of an impressive physical feat on Lucic's part. That's kind of how I see the Bruins and Leafs right now.

My glass is still half full.
