Game 38: Leafs @ Devils - Apr. 6, 7:00pm - CBC, TSN 1050

Ok what stuck out for me with a PK final minute was RC rallying his troops behind the bench preparing for the last few seconds.  Think back to a passionless RW and suddenly RC's lineup decisions fade a little bit for me.

Indeed this team has changes in so many ways this season from last it is simply shocking. If we win a round I think that RC has to be considered at least for the Adams, Not win it but maybe just maybe  a nod his way for such a drastic turnaround overall. We kept our scoring touch but added a two way game and a grind it out mentality when needed. We're in for a fun ride and hockey gods willing playoffs in less then a months time.

I think we need to get Lupul back, cruise into the post season and not worry about facing the Bruins in the first round.

With Bergeron out Boston doesn't scare me as much as they did. I still think we'd definitely need Lupul to put up a fight though.

At 6-1-3, #Leafs have most points (21) and fewest regulation losses (1) in their last 10 games than any other team in their last 10 games.

Reimer looked great out there.  I'm amazed that Bozak can still pour on the speed the way he did on that break with that parachute he calls a haircut slowing him down.  And way to go Komarov!

Getting two points off the 9th place team feels pretty reassuring.  Meanwhile, that loss has to really sting for the Devils.

? You can't get 21 points in 10 games.  6-1-3 = 15 points.

Yeah, Rob ended up correcting himself. They still have the fewest losses in the last 10 (1), but Pittsburgh and San Jose have more points than the Leafs (who are tied with Washington for 3rd with most points in last 10).

Jesus get it out already.

Don't worry about the play in our end. Reimer will make the saves and the Leafs powerful offence will score a couple more goals. It's the Randy Carlyle system.

Step 1 - Play Orr in close game
Step 2 - ...
Step 3 - WIN?

A part of me dies every time his name is even kind of mentioned in the Jack Adams race.

Really, the coach who fixed the unfixable penalty kill and has the team in a position to make the playoffs for the first time in nearly a decade?

I think the Adams is largely bogus regardless but I don't think the fact that the Leafs have been lousy for a long time means that Carlyle has done a better job this year.

I don't know, I think he's done a pretty good job. Paul McLean will win the Adams, but Carlyle deserves a bit of credit for the Leafs' defensive improvements.

I think more than "a bit". Look at put pk...

As much as I think Carlyle has done a good job here, the Adams should really go to a coach who gets significantly more out of their team than their talent level suggests he should, and I'm not sure Carlyle really has. The Leafs haven't performed significantly better than they realistically should have. They've benefitted from some teams performing worse and others having major injury issues, but, overall, if everything went perfectly for all teams, the Leafs wouldn't be all that far back from where they are now. There's really only 2 teams behind them in the East that I'd say have a clear talent advantage (NYR and Philly), but that's somewhat balanced by the fact that one of the teams ahead of them probably aren't quite as talented as the Leafs (Montreal). Going into the season, I said I expected the Leafs to finish in the 7-10 range, and, while it looks like they'll do a little better than that, it's less because of their play and more due to a couple teams seriously under-performing.
