Game 4 - Colorado Avalanche vs Toronto Maple Leafs OTL3-2

Franson let jones just stand there in front of Reimer.

Looked like he thought the puck was going to out of the zone when he knocked it up the boards.

All 3 of those goals goals had a bit of odour to them....

I like Reimer and think he's a good goalie, but it's rare to see a positional goalie look so awkward at times. He's got moments where he's like an unholy mix between Giguere and Justin Pogge.

Oh, and I think we all knew Giguere was getting the W tonight. That just seems to be the way the world works.

I think if you watch the replay of Colorado's second  goal again, you will see it ticked off a Leaf player's stick just slightly.

With 7 legit NHL defencemen, I hoped Wilson was going to take the opponent's style into account when deciding who is going to sit. Having 3 slow-footed defencemen in Schenn, Komisarek, and Franson in the line-up against a small but very fast Avalanche forward group probably wasn't the best idea. Gardiner might have helped a tad.

Reimer had the same rebound problem last year that someone just mentioned. He's still better than anything else we've got though.

Only saw the last 12 minutes or so. So Schenn is still sucking the big one ?

The way the 3rd period ended I really thought the Leafs were going to get this one. :(
Had to lose eventually and its good its at least against a western conference team. Still got one point.
Rebound with a win wendesday and all is forgotten.

To my mind, through 4:

The Good: Kessel, Lupul, Phaneuf, Gunnarson, Reimer, Steckel
The Meh: Schenn, Liles, Grabo, Komisarek, Franson, Frattin, Lombardi, Kulemin, Mac, Dupuis
The not-so-good: Bozak, Armstrong, Gardiner

I still think that their play at centre is the team's biggest issue going forward.

Not one of Reimer's best efforts.  We have a B2B coming up, right?  I'd give Gus the start Weds and bring back Reimer in BOS.

Yep. Thats how I see it playing out too.

Down late and tie the game = good.
Losing to Giguere = bad.
Kessel still looking dominant = good.
Losing to Colorado = how they heck do they have the record they current have?

They were pretty good two years ago, when Anderson played decently. Then they stunk when Anderson dropped off. Now they are getting decent goaltending again, and they have a number of decent young players, who have some jump.
That being said, I think the Leafs outplayed them, especially in the third, just couldn't bury some of their chances.

I have to disagree a bit. Grabbo has had spurts of great play just not consistantly, Franson would be in the bad section. I thought he wanted to show how good he was and play himself into his job. I'd rather see Gardiner play at least he has the hope of an upside I haven't seen from Franson at all.

I also think Bozak and Armstrong are at least Meh LOL Bozak has been good on faceoffs and looked good with Kessel. Armstrong had a good game tonight although he needs to throw the body a bit more.

I'm not sure I'd really have anyone in the bad section. Schenn has had a few rough points but not playing very much during the game it's hard to get into the game and regain confidence.

My 2 cents

The first two periods were much more in the Avs favour.

I just feel the Leafs had moments of pressure but overall way to sloppy.

Leafs didn't deserve a point so I'm happy they got anything.
