Game 45: Ottawa Senators vs Toronto Maple Leafs 7:00 SNET-O

The guy Connolly could have pressured was the guy in the corner who passed Gonchar the puck. Once it was behind the net Connolly headed off.

Then he still did the right thing. All pressuring the sens player there would have accomplished is Connolly getting off the ice a second or sow later.

This team needs a goalie that can steal a game. Until they do they won't make the play offs. Awful game by Raimer.

I wouldn't say awful but it sure wasn't good enough.  I think Gustavsson has earned the #1 mantle for the rest of the season.

I'm talking about the play immediately before that, not when the puck went behind the net after.

Then, I have no idea what play you think you saw, because I saw nothing else that fits into what you're complaining about.

Again, what's a Sens fan doing on a Leafs centric board?

Talking about hockey?

There's a number of people that post here with opinions that I respect.

Right. You're here to stir up crap which you do a good job of knowing that cheering against the Leafs will get people upset.

Well, SP hardly needs me to defend him, but sorry, you're wrong. He does come here to talk hockey, not to 'stir up crap'. His choice of team to be a fan of may be questionable, but his contributions here are meaningful.

Even if his freakin' team did beat ours :(

I don't go to another team's board "looking to talk hockey" because I know the fans of the other team wouldn't appreciate my comments. You have to know that when you're in enemy territory you'll stir up emotions. To think you can just "talk hockey" while you're cheering for a team that 99% of the other posters support is naive at best and disingenuous at worst.

A little bad luck at both ends of the ice (non-call on Spezza, multiple missed chances with open nets), Anderson, and also not getting the big save when needed cost the Leafs the game.

Back to Gus next start I assume, and round and round we go!

Sigh - it's so frustrating that our season is in doubt while Ottawa is rebuilding and comfortably in a playoff spot.

I'm glad we finally have a good group of young players to build upon but with the start we had there is no way we should not make the playoffs even with Wilson as our coach.

I'm not sure I'd go that far. Reimer hasn't been great, but, I still wouldn't be comfortable with Gustavsson as the #1. More like the lead half of a platoon. He's hot right now, so obviously, the Leafs need to ride him, but, we've all seen how quickly he can go cold and how long it can last.

I really wish Reimer had played like this last season cause then it would have forced Burke to go out and get a goalie in the summer.  What a disaster we have on our hands now.

azzurri63 saw it, it was the guy that passed the puck behind to Gonchar, it happened immediately before the play you're talking about. Connolly was 5 feet from the guy when he got the puck, instead of changing then, he stood there for about 3 steamboats and just watched the guy, doing nothing.

all right, I understand where you're coming from. And I'll just agree to disagree with you.

This one freakin hurts.  I was excited to check my phone and see a 2-0 lead, I felt this was a huge game.  All 3 sens gaols were garbage or questionable.  Very frustrating.  That alfie goal was brutal.  Did they just think the period was over?  Ughhh.  How far outta 8th are we now?

Right on Millen totally agree. Turning point was the last minute of the 1st period just like I had mentioned. Top line shouldn't have been out their in my opinion. Gave the Sens some life I think because I think if we would have gone up 3-0 we win this game. Poor coaching decision and Wilson does it a lot.

I don't think there was much of a turning point, per say.  The Leafs have carried the play the entire game.

Got lucky on Alfie's goal when the Leafs all stopped playing for a second.  Clearly got away with one on Spezza's goal.  This game is all on Craig Anderson.

Every game has some sort of a turning point. I haven't been too happy with Kessel and Lupul defensively lately. They have been horrible in our end. I wouldn't of had them out in the last minute of the 1st. We go into the dressing room up 2-0 and dominating could have been a different story.

4-0-1 to start the season
14-15-4 to close out 2011
4-0-0 to start January
0-3-0 since

Two hot stretches and the rest has been a real struggled of ups and down.

azzurri63 saw it

The poster who hates on Connolly at any chance?  There's a reliable source.

Ahh, so, it's hyperbole you're going with, then? He stood there for a split second and was more like 15 feet away, saw the pass go behind the net and went off. What exactly was pressuring a player that was already passing the puck going to accomplish?

That's why you'll notice that I very rarely post in the Leafs Talk area of the forum, and when I do, I keep my comments pretty clean.

When the Sens play the Leafs though?  Yeah, I'll throw in a jab or too if a Leaf fan is getting mouthy.  That's what happens in a rivalry.

Just for fun, would you mind quoting one of my posts where the sole intent was to "stir crap up"?
