Game 46: MIN @ TOR - Jan. 19 - 7:00pm - TSN

Liles can't come back soon enough for the PP.

I really like Liles and feel he's very underrated.  I like what he gives us quite a bit and he's certainly a different look than everything else we have back there.

I can't get over how far down Heatley has fallen in terms of even being
noticed. Phil is all over the place. Heatley? Not so much.

Pretty weak call on Gunnarsson but given that the Wild got 6 penalties that period, I'm ok with a penalty that just cuts down on 4 minutes of PP.  The team really should be blown up if they find a way to lose this game.  Minnesota looks terrible AND have no discipline.

And I haven't seen Mike Yeo say a word, the times they have panned over to him on the bench. He looks at a loss.

Yeo was being touted for the Jack not so long ago.  And deservedly.

The Wild should be a premier franchise in this league, but they haven't been able to put together any kind of starpowered exciting team ever since they got back in.  I think it was a mistake for them to have put so much emphasis on D in their first years back.  It's like they administered a massive dose of anaesthetic that the franchise has never been able to wake up from.

Poor Bozak, he's had two phantom goals tonight.

At least he's right where he should be.

He's really matured last year and especially this.  He's not really a true #1C stud but he sure meshes well with Kessel and that other dude.

I don't get how that counts as a kick.  He didn't lift his skate off the ice and he's a mile away from the net.  I really don't understand why turning your foot = a kick.

EDIT: Glad that one was good.

Also, Kessel was holding Lupul back.  Lupul now leads the team with 51 points to Kessel's 50.

Here's the official rule:

Rule 49:

A puck that deflects into the net off an attacking player?s skate who does not use a distinct kicking motion is a legitimate goal. A puck that is directed into the net by an attacking player?s skate shall be a legitimate goal as long as no distinct kicking motion is evident. The following should clarify deflections following a kicked puck that enters the goal:

(i) A kicked puck that deflects off the body of any player of either team (including the goalkeeper) shall be ruled no goal.

(ii) A kicked puck that deflects off the stick of any player (excluding the goalkeeper?s stick) shall be ruled a good goal.

(iii)  A goal will be allowed when an attacking player kicks the puck and the puck deflects off his own stick and then into the net.

A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks any equipment (stick, glove, helmet, etc.) at the puck, including kicking the blade of his own stick, causing the puck to cross the goal line.

Based on that I think it should count.
