Game: 49 Maple Leafs at NYIslanders 7:00PM RSO

The Leafs did what they needed to do in these last 2 games.  Had they lost them, they would have had a looong week to think about falling on their faces.  7-4 over the last 11 is decent.

That's 21-12 if they could keep it up over the next 33, just sayin'...

Missed the game, really looking forward to seeing game in six, comebacks are always fun.

Decided to read through the thread with some cardboard taped over part of my screen, tried to predict who made which post, kinda fun and kinda predictable but still enjoyed it.

The challenge is that, of those 33, 81% will not be at home, as was the case with these last 11.

I thought 'just sayin'' was like 'just a shot' but yeah, it really won't be easy to accomplish.

I do like the direction they're going in now though, they've made some pretty interesting adjustments, especially where taking penalties/pk is concerned, seems to me it's kind of a 'traditional' tightening up like some of the better teams do at this time.

Hate to use the phrase but if someone asked about their position as it is now at the start of the season, sure I would've liked more but I'd've taken it.

Vety good comeback by the Leafs, plus Gustavvson remained poised throughout the game, even after the Islanders took the lead.

              --------------------------------

This game date happened to be the 30th anniversary of former Islander star Mike Bossy's 50 goals in 50 games feat.  Maurice ""Rocket" Richard is the only other player to have accomplished this ahead of Bossy.

Also, the Islanders Matt Moulson, a native of North York, ON, played in his 211th consecutive game.  He has not missed any games in his career with the Isles.

Don't know why we haven't been getting called for things since the new year started.  We definitely deserved a couple penalties at least last game, couldn't believe they didn't call any on us.  It's weird.

Compare that to December where blowing on a player could have resulted in a penalty at times, and yeah, its' been very strange.  The whistles were put away last night for the most part though so I'm not too upset, but I feel like one of the games post-ASG might be an ugly 7-8 penalty night as payback.

Couldn't agree more.  They are in the thick of a fight for the last playoff spot, which is all that anyone could have reasonably expected.

Kudos to that archvillain Wilson for getting them to play more disciplined, and for tightening up the few PKs we have had to execute lately.

It's really nice to see the second line get there scoring touch back.It will definately take a little pressure off of Kessel and Lupul.
