GDT PreSeason Game #5 Buffalo Sabres @Toronto..... CBC 7 pm et al

Get under the bus, Gus, anywho I didn't think he was too bad on that one, hard to argue with the coverage Buffalo had in front.

I wouldn't put that one on him, but, he certainly hasn't done enough in this game to cement the back-up role (even though, he'll probably start the season there any ways). It's been a pretty typical Gustavsson outing - some good moments, some playing out of position, some fighting the puck . . . the only thing we've yet to see so far is him misplaying it behind the net and/or some miscommunication with his blueliners.

Well he didn't do too bad in a lopsided period there but given the givens he'll be backing up Reimer as of now. I doubt the Leafs would settle for Scrivens if Goose really was cooked, the Leafs are playing risky with the experience they have in net as it is.

I haven't seen anything in the pre-season to suggest our penalty kill is going to be any better this year than last. I'll reserve final judgement until the end of the preseason (lots of young guys, 5 games in 6 nights, and no real practice time for special teams so far) but just looks like the same old same old.

anyone else a bit down on kadri after the commentators have spent the entire game pointing out his flaws?

This has been a pattern they've exhibited for the past few seasons.  To me it seems completely unwarranted, particularly in consideration of how Kadri's generally looked on the whole far better than many of his teammates in the preseason.  I also can't help but think that he's not being given given a fair shake by Wilson (yet again) - he has no business playing on a line with the likes of Boyce.

Too tough to tell right now.  They haven't had many practices, let alone many practices with the final group, to work on anything.  I'm assuming the new coaches will hopefully bring something new to the table on that front.

Reimer didn't look too bad last game. ;)

I still think they're missing one killer pk forward, perhaps a Lombardi or a Connolly could help ( maybe even a Frattin ) but I'm not overly optimistic there.
