What's Dominik Hasek doing these days?  He's not much older then Bower was when he retired. :)

Hasek pursuing various interests, thinking comeback

Don't trust him. He hates the Leafs. :P

Here's his latest headline:

Leafs face another season stunted by sieves in net

He's not pulling any punches. That's almost tabloid for the Globe & Mail.

He did say this on twitter though:

Keeping in mind I don't write the headlines - here's my story on the Leafs atrocious recent history in goal: bit.ly/rr4HKx

Thanks CW

I pulled out his list of options from that thread...

The short list of potential fill-in candidates isn?t exactly full of world beaters:

- Evgeni Nabokov is being used as trade bait by the New York Islanders, who are rumoured to want a second-round pick for his rights

- A free agent, Marty Turco is currently team-less and working out with a junior team

- Panthers backup Scott Kulemensen has been passed on the depth chart by rookie Jacob Markstrom in Florida

- And Michael Leighton has been playing well in the minors in the Philadelphia Flyers system after falling out of favour there

Nabokov looks like the best option to me, but the Isles want a 2nd for him. Seems a little high. Wilson obviously knows him well. Do we still even have our 2nd?

Edit: I don't know why Scott Kulemensen's name keeps changing to what you see above. I've tried to fix it several times. Now his last name's changed in my edit too.???
I'm writing his name starting with a C, and it changes the C to Ku every time, which totally misspells it altogether. Strange. Its gotta be something to do with that guy who calls Kulemin that nickname all the time, because the software won't let me write the name :)

Thanks for pointing that out. I hadn't seen it. It's not uncommon in the publishing media for others to write the headlines.

I haven't found Mirtle too bad - generally fair.

Mirtle generously responded to a salary cap question I once asked by email.  I appreciated him taking his time to do that.  I think he is well-intentioned.

I mentioned in another thread he leans to the "enjoying the Leafs struggles a little too much" side of things, but I still read all of his stuff and think him and Siegel are my two favourites for coverage.

With the state of the Leafs goaltending situation it would be hard not to rag on them right now.

But let me add this, man do I not miss Berger one bit.

Sorry Howard.

Any disgruntled potential star goalie out there who's fallen on hard times?  Wonder if Burke can steal someone off a roster like he did with Phaneuf.

Luongo.

The Vancouver GM is pissy to the Leafs though, he'll never trade anyone to Burke.

I'm pretty sure Pascal Leclaire is available - might need to check with his mom though I can't remember if he's healthy again.
