If the Leafs trade for Penner, it will be because someone like Komisarek is going the other way, not Grabovski - unless taking on Penner is the price to add Brown. Penner is no Huberdeau.

Sarge said:Brown, or another very nice piece (I don't know if they have any top tier prospects like Huberdeau.)
WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:When we recieved Gardiner not many had him as Anaheim's top prospect, but Burke saw something and maybe knew he was close, it might be that type of prospect he has his eyes on again.
bustaheims said:Looking through their prospect list, Bernier is the only one that really jumps out at me. After that, they have a lot of decent but unspectacular guys, just like everyone else. There could be a diamond in that rough, but I certainly wouldn't be able to tell you who it is. No Huberdeau, no deal. ;D
Sarge said:Penner/Bernier for Grabo/Reimer? Huberdone? ;D

He wasn't their top prospect, but, he was their #2 or #3 prospect at the time of the deal. Anaheim fans were certainly aware of him, and many were very upset that he was part of the deal.
Saint Nik said:No, seriously, what would have to happen for the interest in Penner to fall to zero? Would he have to be on trial for manslaughter? An avowed racist? A shambling corpse of a man with an open wound and an outspoken craving for brains?

Not so much.

So we wind up with an inferior pending UFA AND a goaltender who really hasn't shown himself to be any better than Reimer. Not sure how that is even a consideration unless Burke has a seizure while on the phone and presses 1 to accept all charges.

bustaheims said:considering, at best, Penner holds zero trade value (and, more likely, would be seen as a negative).
Oh I know, I just think Huberdeau talk is pretty unrealistic for a pending UFA, but perhaps a #2 or #3 prospect from some team that is under the radar a little league wide, but highly respected within an organization.bustaheims said:WhatIfGodWasALeaf said:When we recieved Gardiner not many had him as Anaheim's top prospect, but Burke saw something and maybe knew he was close, it might be that type of prospect he has his eyes on again.

Oh, I don't know. I was just thinking the other day that the team could deal with getting fatter and lazier.

However, we have been missing a Renberg in the lineup. He injured himself eating pancakes earlier this year.
