Hyman seems like he'd be a great bottom line PK specialist that could fill in on your third line and not be a liability.

That would be the ideal spot for him, yeah. He can still chip in a little offence on the 4th line, but he wouldn't be in a position where he's used as a significant part of it.

I do think both he and Brown could conceivably be 10ish goal, 25-30 point types on the 3rd line, though.

I think Brown still has more upside, he has gotten better consistently at every level he has played at and he's doing well for a rookie. He's going to continue working like a demon and I think he still has top six potential.

I'm also really liking Matthews.

This is literally the defense I imagined we could be playing in a year or two.

He definitely has more upside than Hyman. Like, that pass, for instance. May be able to be a 2nd liner.

With another AM goal, I'm feeling a little better about Dean Morton now. I'm willing to extend the olive branch. Dean, I'd like to invite you to walk naked through downtown Toronto from, say, Union Station up to perhaps the Ontario Science Centre.

It doesn't seem like Komarov has a future with the Leafs.

Agreed. Really, though, he's exactly the type of guy the team needs to not get too attached to. You can find guys to fill his role relatively easily, and you can turn them into decent picks (3rd rounders, usually - not spectacular, but there's usually a few quality players left on the board) when you've found/developed the next one.

I think a third line of Leivo - Kadri  - Brown and a 4th line of Hyman - Gauthier -  Martin (not my choice, but he's here for a while) is a pretty good bottom six.  That opinion may change depending on how Kapanen and/or Leipsic do at the NHL level.
