Jian Ghomeshi

the more you read about the work place at Q, the more this guy is looking like a megalomaniac, so he probably had attained some god like untouchable status in his own head.
Wow the fall will be spectacular, for unlike Pistarius there will be no legion of adoring fans to overlook his actions and welcome him back in a few months.
Where can he go now, what can he do?  and who really cares?may end up driving a taxi in Mumbai.

I agree with you and the line I quoted from your post Busta. However, At the same time it bothers me. The court of public opinion won't always be fair or correct in every situation.

That said, I have already passed judgement that this guy is a dirt bag.

Gomeshi was born in England and is of Iranian descent.

For those that want to stereotype, put some more effort into it.

Pretty sure he has enough money to go off an live on an island where he won't be disturbed.

I don't see a very strong defense of any of his ongoing actions. I mean, as Lionel Hutz says, it sounds like they have a paper trail a mile long on Ghomeshi. I don't think there's any way he gets cleared of everything that's been brought against him.

The reason he might get off is, unfortunately, a lack of hard evidence (at least, as far as we know - who knows what might be stashed somewhere). Right now, it seems like too much of a "he said, she said" situation to lead to a conviction - even though, at this point, I think most rational people are convinced he's guilty of something.

Well, WE don't know if there's hard evidence or not, but his firing certainly suggests that there is hard evidence. Apparently CBC was handed images that they felt were too gruesome/distasteful to ignore. I'd also bet there are many journals in regards to the anguish he's caused people, which I think could possibly be used.

If they need someone to walk in with bruises then... yeah, that'd be tough.

It's not so much the bruises, as much as it's things like medical reports and whatever other physical evidence that could possibly exist. The photos and such certainly sound like they're pretty strong, but, what it takes to cost someone their job and what it takes to convict someone of criminal activity are two very different bars. Journals fall pretty strongly in the "he said, she said" pile.

Ghomeshi drops $55m CBC lawsuit

?The parties have reached a settlement; the lawsuit has been withdrawn but it still needs to be formalized through a court order,? Thompson told the Star on Tuesday.
The deal was reached last Friday.

He's been charged with 4 sexual assault charges.

He's also been charged with one count of "overcome resistance - choking," which comes with a potential sentence of life in prison.

Bail posted. He has been released and ordered to live with his mother. Link

They also took his passport.  With his money, and seeing the writing on the wall he could have left the country before it got to this point and there would have been nothing the authorities could do.  Too late now for him.
