Leafs acquire Joel Edmundson

I like his game and playoff experience, but the team still needs a right shooting D-man. I'd be fine with Dumba.

I certainly wouldn't be quite as in favour of it as I was with Sandin but I wonder if we see a similar move where Lily gets dealt for a 1st rounder and Dumba's brought in as a cheaper immediate replacement:

Rielly-Lyubushkin
Brodie-McCabe
Edmundson-Dumba
Lily will be traded for sure

I don't mind that, I guess Benoit in and out for Brodie? Also, did I hear somewhere that Rielly and Dumba had played together somewhere in the past? Dumba is set to be a UFA?

Lily and Nicky are going somewhere

I think so too, and they should. I'll miss Robbie's shot, but they could use another all arounder with a bit of size would be good too. Let's get Crouse while we're at it. Pull off a blockbuster, Brad.

Liljegren, Robertson and a 1st FOR Parayko and Buchnevich both 50% retained.

Throw some money on LTIR ala Vegas.

We?ve mortgaged too much in past years at the deadline for what? Nothing. As long as Treliving doesn?t get rid of another 1st and any of our top prospects I?ll be happy because I?m not sold on this current roster going anywhere. The way we are too top heavy in salary and cap strapped it?s always going to be fill in with scrubs that aren?t going to make a significant difference. We?ve seen how it?s played out every trade deadline. Leafs need to restructure this team come summer and it starts with getting a bonafide defenceman who can chew up minutes and QB the power play. We are thin with picks so I hope Treliving doesn?t give up what little we have.
When the Leafs trade Marner in the offseason, we will have a boatload of picks coming our way, ton of cap space and Cowan ready to step in

I think something like that needs to happen or you use whatever money is available next year which will be substantial to retool this team and wait for Tavares' 11 million to come off the books and then retool some more. I don't see Marner going anywhere all I see is signing him to a contract between 12-13 million. if this the case then I like your idea.

I like both players and a right handed D is needed but Parayko's skating is concerning and from what I've been reading is getting to be more and more of a concern.

Better not sell Timothy. Has the most potential of all our D. RHD that needs to be given more opportunity.

At the expense of our forward group, we will need to spend on D this summer for a more balanced group.

Honestly, I don?t get it, no one is picking them to win anything and we keep spending assets?

Timmins on LTIR....
Lagesson to be waived?
Need to make room......somebody has to go to get back to a 23 man roster.

Lagesson no longer on the roster

I'd be surprised if he clears waivers

I suspect we?ll see a lot of guys on waivers today. There will be some surprise clears and surprise claims.

It's not the player...I just hate rentals.  I can't remember the last rental that the Leafs spent assets on and had them re-sign with the Leafs as an impactful addition for multiple seasons.

I am thinking Schenn, O'Reilly, Acciari, Gustafsson, Hutton, Rittich, Noesen, Foligno, Nash, etc

All those assets given for nothing so far.

I like him. I think there are NHL teams he could help.
We'll find out soon enough.
I only recall one brief shaky spell for a couple of games.
Maybe I missed something.
They would know more from practice, etc.

I find these ones or this part of the sport tough. They're so close.
We're cheering them on. Hoping for the best.
He tried. Did his best.
Now he is in limbo. Torn away from his team under the bright lights of media.
A little humiliation. A cut below the rest.
Has to phone his family to tell them his team dumped him for nothing.
Yes, they get paid well. But they're human beings.
I feel for them.

The positive for him is he might get into another teams top 6.

Couldn't agree more. For some reason many are suggesting our window will soon close. On the contrary, the window is just starting to open. Let Minten and Cowan, Niemala and perhaps another Marlie join the squad next year.  Obviously Lilly is out of favour with Keefe and Robertson not going to find a spot. They will go, just don't trade our 1st.  The idea is not to sell the remaining livestock on the farm.

He's a fairly well known quantity around the league, and hasn't played enough this season to significantly change opinions of him. He's basically been the same player he has been through his stops in Edmonton and Montreal - a solid but unspectacular 6/7/8 defenceman. There could be teams that could use that - especially some of those that have shipped out better blueliners - but, many could also be looking at the rest of the season to give opportunities to guys already in the organization. I don't think a playoff team would claim him, unless they're really just looking for help at the bottom of their depth chart, but it won't shock me if someone else goes for him. It also wouldn't shock me if no one puts in a claim.

EDIT:

(Not listed: Tony DeAngelo - who probably doesn't get much interest around the league for reasons of being a not great person)

With the guys on waivers, I think teams would look at Oesterle and Bjornfot first.

Exactly my feeling. I said it a few weeks ago before they went on that run I wouldn't even mind them selling. Recoup some young players or draft picks that Dubas gave away like candy.

So we're readying to get rid of our only young RHD because Keefe doesn't like him?

That'd be A-1 thinking.  I'd 86 Keefe before I'd 86 Liljegren.

I doubt the team is putting serious consideration into moving Liljegren unless a young, puckmoving RHD is coming back. The team is more likely looking to bring in another RHD, not move one out.
