Leafs at World Championships

Weird that it seems even the team thought he was going.

Morgan Rielly, James Reimer confirmed for the World Championships. Tyler Bozak expected.

That's not the teams official twitter account. What follows the @ symbol is the accounts unique handle, but the part before it is the name of the account, which can be anything.

So it's just somebody putting 'Toronto Maple Leafs' on their account in order to gain attention.

Duh, I totally didn't even notice that. I just did a search for "Bozak" on Twitter and that one caught my eye.

Kadri over Bozak? Hmmmm

This is shaping up to be a pretty mediocre team though. I guess that's normal for Olympic years.

I guess with Nonis involved, a few Leafs that normally
wouldnt get selected are getting a shot to represent Canada for the first time in their careers.

I don't believe Nonis is involved this time around.

edit: He's not on the management group:

I thought I read somewhere that he was. Let me try and find that...

You link isn't working, but this is the article you're referring to?

Doesn't say anything about Nonis being on the staff.

Its strange, because it does say this?

Kevin Dineen, fired as head coach of the Florida Panthers, who led Canada to Olympic gold in women?s hockey. He?ll work with Nonis on Team Canada?s entry at the world championship.

Maybe they mean the women's team?

Sorry, I skipped over the part about the coaches. Thing is Dineen also isn't involved with the WC team. Tippett, DeBoer, and Maurice were the coaches announced: http://www.hockeycanada.ca/en-ca/news/Tippett-to-coach-Canada-at-2014-worlds.

He's currently coaching Canada's U18 team, so I'm going to guess the article is just wrong.

The countries from the Olympics aren't participating in the tournament this year. Again, Dineen is coaching Canada's U18 team right now, but Nonis isn't involved with that either (Hockey Canada runs that in house).

Thats odd. Just inaccurate reporting I guess.

That link lists Steve Staios as the teams Director of Player Development. Not really sure what a WC team needs somebody like that for, but hey there's somebody from the Leafs on their staff.

As Hope_Smoke on twitter points out, TSN.ca's roster lists Bozak too: http://www.tsn.ca/canadian_hockey/feature/?id=63060

That's hilarious. Has there ever been an international mystery the magnitude of "Is Bozak on Team Canada's world championship roster?"
