There Clarkson stood in the middle of the ice on that sequence, not blocking shots, not taking a man, not doing anything.

Probably for the best, because, when he does try to do something, it often goes badly for the Leafs.

How is it a seven year deal!?

You might, anyway, if this weren't more or less how they played with him in the line-up for the last 6 weeks.

Well, it's more that he can at least contain other teams top players. So while the Leafs may not be playing as a team for the past 6 weeks, Phaneuf has been good and holding his end of the bargain IMO.

I still maintain that Bolland is the guy this team misses the most.

The Leafs are completely gassed. They clearly and correctly knew they had to win last night if they wanted a chance for a split between these two games.

This is probably why Randy is safe.  All Nonis's moves in the offseason were to Carlyze the lineup.

If missing their 3rd line centre has that significant an impact on the team, things are much worse than any of us (other than Nik) want to believe.

I'm trying to remember how I survived the 80s as the team was far worse then. I think I was able to feel better then because nowadays I can see every game on tv, have this site and twitter to further fuel my sorrow.

I just feel like my feelings are like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football.

Eager anticipation and then pffffftt

Also why I would fire both of them.

The 80s were easier, because there was no expectation that the team would be anything more than mediocre, and, even with that, they had a good shot of making the playoffs.

Grabovski/MacArthur would look nice on the team right now, especially if it meant not signing Slowy McNoOffense.

Watching a team like St Louis play is tough to take. It's a team that actually has a structure, a system, and players execute. The Leafs have looked lost way too often this year.

So nobody thinks this team will find their game in time to secure a playoff spot now?

Other than the playoffs they haven't for close to 4 months of regular season play.  What indication is there that they can?

;D

That's twice in this thread you've gotten me to LOL.

Almost as funny was the "breakout" there with Ranger standing behind the net, Fraser looking like Lot's wife at Gomorrah off to the side, and of course nowhere to go with the puck to get it ACTUALLY OUT OF THE DAMN ZONE WHICH THEY DIDN'T.

They've found their game for all of one full 60 minute effort this season. One. In 33 games. So, yeah, I'm going to go with probably not.

It says something about the atmosphere here when the guy who thinks the team is terrible is the cockeyed optimist.

I actually think a pillar of salt would be more effective than Fraser.
