I think you'd have to consider it. I'd be looking at Marner. The problem is, with the flat cap, how many teams might be willing/able to take on that cap hit. And would the return be worth it.Gerald The Duck said:If the Leafs do indeed lose the series, how can one not ask questions about the core? And would it really be reactionary or reckless to explore major changes?
I could ask the same of you ? whats your inside information? What is objective is no points. Again.Chris said:So you work on the Leafs training staff?BermudaBudsFan said:There is nothing wrong with Matthews. He just hasn?t got it done.Chris said:We'll see. They have one more chance to change that narrative. But without Tavares or Muzzin, possibly something not right with Matthews...it would not surprise me at all to see them lose game 7.BermudaBudsFan said:They are collectively a group of losers.
Something doesn't look right with him. Just think back to how he looked in the first couple of games, then compare to the last 2. He looks a lot like he did during the season when the wrist was bothering him. Having trouble handling pucks, shots off the mark/weaker than usual.
Bender said:Now that I can 100% get behind!Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate said:Bender said:Because of course. Man what is Campbell supposed to do there? I really think they can beat Price, he gets out of his net a lot and over commits but they still play a game where they don't get in his face, don't fake any shots, and let him see everything. He's going to stop all the shots he sees that don't get tipped. Man this is going to be brutal.
I'll say it again, they are going to win G7. I think they will.
OK, I'm telling myself I think they will. Why the hell not? Might was well be positive.

Fair enough. I'm going by what I see, the changes I've noticed in him since the start of the series. As someone else mentioned, the Canadiens have done a good job checking that line but there appears to be more to it than that. I could be wrong. Whatever. If he's not producing for whatever reason, the Leafs ain't going anywhere in the playoffs. Gotta find a way to fight through tight checking and get some points.

Exactly. These now expected collapses makes it harder to answer this question. We truly are a team of chokersBender said:Why be a fan?Stronger Than All said:Zanzibar Buck-Buck McFate said:OK people, I'm calling it. They will win on Monday.

As much as I think Marner is playing badly I think we've gotten more burned over the years by giving up on talent too early.Chris said:I think you'd have to consider it. I'd be looking at Marner. I'll worry about that when we get there, but losing this series after being up 3-1 would have to lead to some tough questions.
No I'm saying why be a fan if you give up on game 7? It makes no sense. Either you're a Fairweather fan or you're not. If you're Fairweather why the hell are you on a die hard Leafs message board?Lee-bo said:Exactly. These now expected collapses makes it harder to answer this question. As a fan you invest a lot. Every so often you would like to see some on ice success. This particular iteration of the team is so confounding because it has the high end talent needed to win. When they lose it hurts. The way this team loses is excruciating. Not watching game 7 is self-preservation. I think deep down we all know what the result Monday will be. In a way, it?s caring about the team so much that will mean I probably won?t watch. This feels like the Bruins collapse all over again, but just in slow motion over the course of a few games.Chris said:Bender said:No I'm saying why be a fan if you give up on game 7? I've been a die hard Leaf fan for over 40 years and I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to bring myself to watch game 7. I'm not sure if I can handle another first round game 7 loss. If that makes me a fair weather fan, so be it.
