Phaneuf fishing a little there....

Was hung out to dry having to cover the guy in front and the guy with the puck.  Went for the guy with the puck and nobody covered the other guy.  Tough spot there, either choice ends up with someone open the way everyone was set up there.  Franson was high and Kulemin low?

EDIT: drummond below says Kulemin had to stay with Ovechkin, so that explains that part.

Hooray for the passive diamond PK.

I don't know how much that one was affected by pasting Kulemin to OV, but I don't object to that as a strategy.  You'll want to give the chances to the Brouwers of the world rather than #8.

Yo're right, see my reply to busta.  Phaneuf was probably playing it right, he just didn't intercept the pass.

I don't mind that. I just think that, in general, they need to be more aggressive than that on the PK. The basically let Washington do whatever they wanted, as long as it didn't go to Ovechkin.

When is this league going to get their s**t together with this stupid rule. No kicking motion. If you turn your skate to direct it in isn't that intentional? Don't count it. Ridiculous.

We talked about motivation being an issue in another thread, and this is a typical start to a Leaf game when they have yet to switch on the 'ON' button.
