I am not sure if the Leafs can afford the luxury of having so many enforcers taking up valuable roster sports. In times of Gilmour, Andreychuk and Clark, later with Sundin, Mogilny, McCabe and Kaberle there was enough fire power and the Leafs could afford to carry otherwise useless pugilists like Kris King, Wade Belak and others. Not to mention that their main fighter (Domi) was a decent player given his main job was to fight.
These days are somewhat different. The league is changing but most importantly the Leafs line-up has only limited talent and skill available.
I mean having Orr, Brown and now McLaren all on the team is way too much. Beyond beating somebody they are - lets be honest - completely useless. I would rather see Hamilton, Scott or D?Amigo (or try to get Marcel Mueller back) on the fourth line, guys who can be useful in many other ways. If the Marlies in much wilder AHL "survived" with only one enforcer (Fraser) who was also capable to play hockey not just fight, I do not see the reason why the Leafs could not do the same.
McLaren, like Orr, Brown is just taking up a valuable spot. I do not expect anaything from Frazer than few fights. As I have never expected anything else from Brown or Orr. Poor Stackel, to play with these pylons. Guys who play 3 to 4 minutes per game. What a joke.
The Leafs IMHO badly need a little bit more from their 4th line than a fight here and there. Frazer McLaren is not going to provide anything but the fight. The Leafs con not afford that.
