A few weeks ago, I would have agreed with you, but, now, I'm not so sure. The tone has changed and, now, the media seem to have started their assault on the coach. The whole "Nonis won't make a move in-season" is starting to sound more and more like the dreaded vote of confidence.

I won't stop watching because I have nothing better to do.
Joe S. said:that's not true. I had no ongoing issues with Quinn or Burns. Even Maurice was ok. I could take or leave Wilson.
But Carlyle is approaching Tom Watt levels of ineptness with me.
Actually - complete side note - you know what shocks me - I just looked up # of games coached since 1977, Wilson has the 2nd most games as coach behind Quinn. I didn't realize he was here that long.

Yeah. I don't wish any physical harm upon him. He seems like a perfectly nice guy. I just don't want him coaching the Leafs.
We are never happy with any Leafs coach. #truth

Carlyle's just repeating Wilson's mistake: trying to force a style of play onto a team that it's not built for. Wilson tried to get a limited talented roster to play a more open game - which backfired because he didn't have the talent or the skaters. Carlyle's trying to turn one of the better skating teams in the NHL into a grinding team that collapses automatically in defensive situations. This team is a rush team - for better or for worse. They don't have the size or the defensive acumen to grind and sit back. They have the goaltending and the skaters to trade chances. It's not ideal, but they'd have more success I'm sure. At least they could use their skating to get more offensive chances instead of letting teams bludgeon their goaltenders into submission.
Also, didn't you rock the PAQ tag way back in the day? My memory might be off, that was a long long time ago.

You can pretty much say that about any team that isn't contending for a championship. Coaches generally have a shelf life. For some, it's longer than other.
RedLeaf said:If the fans in the stands start yelling "fire Carlyle, fire Carlyle, fire Carlyle", then you might be onto something. (At least it worked pretty well for getting rid of Wilson). Until that takes place, I don't see it happening this season either. Nonis promised patience when he took over this club, and he's done nothing to make me think anything has changed in that regard.

Dreger's stance on the issue is softening, which leads me to believe the same is true of Nonis. I have no doubt he's now starting to seriously consider the possibility of making this move in-season. That wasn't true last week.

I won't stop watching because apparently I am a sucker for punishment....46 years and running.
