Interesting potential changes on defence. Gleason-Phaneuf. Gunnarsson-Franson. Rielly-Fraser. Jake Gardiner appears out.

I predict Reimer gets pulled after the Leafs score the first goal, Reimer goes postal and sets Randy Carlyle on fire.
That would please everyone on this site because he would be gone.

Possibly. But when we want him gone, it's more in a "fired and replaced by a coach with a different approach to the team", not really in a "let's immolate him" way.

but but but they said Fire Randy??so, that's not what was meant?  :-\

Gardiner could use a seat for a couple but Fraser?  Iggo.

Why does Gardiner deserve a seat?  That's insane to me.  He's sat enough, he didn't do anything to deserve to sit again.

EDIT: He's also been one of their best possession players all season and was again one of their best against the Islanders.

There's a small part of me that legitimately thinks Randy is putting Fraser in for Gardiner because Reimer is starting.

It's like he's daring Nonis to fire him.

I don't think he should be sitting, but he was sure throwing a few grenades Franson's way the other night.

To me, he's still making very questionable plays with the puck, especially under pressure.

But like I said, not bad enough to be out of the lineup.

Something is going on, because Carlyle isn't this stupid. Why is he making these asinine decisions?

I don't really recall that, but maybe.  Regardless I think Franson's played FAR worse than Gardiner.

How do you go from 2nd in ice-time on the team to healthy scratch?  I don't get it at all.

jonasTSN1050: Lines vs. CAR: JVR-Bozak-Kessel. Raymond-Kadri-Lupul. Kulemin-McClement-Clarkson. D'Amigo-Ashton-Orr.

jonasTSN1050: Defence: Gleason-Phaneuf. Gunnarsson-Franson. Fraser-Rielly. Goaltender: Reimer.

*shudder*

Going out on his shield?

A big FU to Nonis et al about winning with no talent slugs?

I sure hope so (going OUT that is...)

Still getting out shot badly and struggling for offense?  Scratch one of the best at driving the play!

Gardiner doesn't chip it off the glass enough. This "looking to make plays" nonsense just won't fly with Carlyle.

No doubt that Carlyle & co have been playing the hell out of Gardiner, but he hasn't exactly turned a corner.

I'm really hoping he can put his game together, I just have my doubts whether or not he's got the head for it.  His defensive zone play is still pretty questionable in my opinion.

Fraser has been garbage, and I agree than Franson hasn't been very good either.

I'm really hoping Gleason can help.

Doesn't give the puck away appreciably more than anyone else on the team.  If anything he's arguably the best at leading a breakout.
