Marner looks better.

1 assist in 7 games from a guy making almost 11 million per. I'm not even watching the game but if you ask Mitch after the game he probably tell you it's early in the season, nothing to be concerned about.

First Canes goalie to go 5-0. Because of course. Team is beyond repair. Culmination of years of bad asset management and overconfidence.

I can't watch the game.  How are we doing?

Remember last year when the team really needed a win in the playoffs to move on to the next round and they had three chances to do it?  Like that.

:(

I was really hoping in 2017 when we had Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Kadri, Kapanen, Johnsson, Connor Brown, Hyman and Rielly that we had the makings of a young core that could carry us until 2027.  Kadri, Hyman and Rielly were on good value contracts.

I really want to see the Leafs win a Cup.

Yeah, it seems so long ago.  I mean we as fans had the optimism after drafting Matthews, and we were all dreaming that this team was going to be like the Hawks.  The team had some franchise players to build around, some cornerstone superstars that could be in the discussion for second best player in the league (I mean, there is only one McDavid).  Now this is a confused dysfunctional team that looks like half of them are interested and the other half are scared.  And as fans we just have to put up with embarrassing moment after embarrassing moment while having our hopes dashed game after game and year after year.  All we wanted as fans was a team we could be proud of, and here we are wondering why they are struggling just to win a game.

I agree with your perspective.  My grandparents moved to the Maritimes from Toronto in the 50s and were diehard Leaf fans and my 1 year old grandson even has a Jersey as well as 3 of my 4 kids.  So 5 generations now.

I have been disappointed for the 1st time in 52 years...yes I was born after the last Leaf Cup.  I find it weird you can't say you're discouraged without some judgemental fan saying "Well leave and cheer for another team" especially when they haven't hung in as long as some of us here.

I meant he didn't look completely dead.  Had his head in the game, anyhow.

Tavares isn't doing squat either.

They were totally outclassed for the third game in a row.  Never tested Freddie.  CAR far superior in terms of speed, puck control, and of course team D.

We never looked dangerous all game.

What would you expect him to say? They're in a slump...it happens. 75 games to go...

Good for Freddie. I hope he stays healthy and has a good run in the playoffs which is something this Leaf team will be struggling to make.

I will admit at the time I was ok with the Tavares signing strictly for the fact other than money it didn't cost us anything but now it has handcuffed this team along with the other overpayment. I would approach Tavares and see if he would be willing to move. If not send Marner packing.

Just checked and Marner is Barry 11th in league scoring over the last 2+ seasons.

He didn?t suddenly forget how to play hockey.  It?s a slump and the worst time to trade a guy.  So even if you want him gone this isn?t remotely close to the time to do it

Maybe shoulder some of the blame. Pick up your game. Earn your inflated pay check. You have the same mentality as management and some of these players. It's always excuses with this team and the question is when they going to realize that changes are needed? I know it's early in the season but the reality is this team the way it's been constructed and all the money thrown at 4 players has been a mistake. Sooner MLSE realizes that the better.

Marner isn't getting traded. He's slumped before and will again. Team has no confidence right now..T Bay lost to Buffalo 5-1 tonight....another team struggling right now...add in the Avs and Vegas. Leafs aren't alone in this.

I would do the Tavares signing all over again but we need to recognize that the best-value years of his Leafs tenure are just about gone.  He's on the downhill, and while still quite a good player is no longer even remotely a superstar.  A very predictable trajectory, as many UFA signings are.

They really really REALLY missed the boat last year.  A royal road to the conference finals was paved for them and they couldn't even go 1 for 3 against a crummy Habs team.  They'll never have that shortcut again.  Just a shame that JT got hurt right off the hop.

If the Leafs want to shake it up, trading Rielly would be at the top of my list.  No way they should be re-signing him anyhow.

Depends on the money whether you sign him or not.

What cap room do we have?
