Leafs Injury Updates

I've really soured on Brown in the same way that I have with Armstrong.  I don't think that either of them were all that effective in their action when in the lineup this year and when they have been so unreliable health-wise, I think its unfortunate that a guy like Frattin loses his job despite doing nothing to deserve demotion.

Brown gives the team some physical play, but the lineup loses offense with Brown relative to Frattin.  And it's not like Brown helps the PK.  He's been on the ice for 6 PK goals in 18GP.  He's second on the team behind Grabovski (who averages less than a minute on the PK/game) for most goals/minute PK time. Maybe that's just small sample size, but he's a 4th liner, and to me, we just lost a guy who was playing like a capable 3rd liner for him to come back in the lineup.  So we either have 4th liner Brown playing on the 3rd line or we have a similar 4th liners in Boyce playing there.  Either way, I think it's a partial downgrade even though he does give a little more crash and bang in the bottom 6.

Not a bad thing to have, but I don't really see him being a major impact.

The crazy thing about Phaneuf is it looks like he's in his normal state! That guy's an animal.

We have to have someone who is willing in our lineup...well willing and able.

Frattin can still use development.  He's not going to get ice-time opportunities on the Leafs as he will on the Marlies.  Think the PKing has to be judged as a whole.  Who's at fault is not on the stat sheet.

markhmasters: Tyler Bozak probably about a week away according to Ron Wilson; no update on John-Michael Liles available

As per Seigel and Brophy, no Tom Connolly at practise today.

When's Bozak back?  Between the 2 of them as might get a full season for our top line center.

That doesn't necessarily mean he'll miss any games.

markhmasters: Tim Connolly not on the ice at Leafs practice but no replacement either; Lupul & Kessel the only two in white jerseys

The fact that they didn't try anyone else between them makes me believe this was more of a maintenance day than anything else.

I'm going with that also.

FWIW, recently reported (officially) as a maintenance day rather than an injury.

John-Michael Liles (concussion-like symptoms) & Colby Armstrong (concussion) on the ice skating before Leafs practice

markhmasters Mark Masters
This is the first time I've seen John-Michael Liles skating since he sustained his injury on Dec. 22

Hopefully good news and all goes well.

Skating is better than nothing but it doesn't really mean any of them are back any time soon. I wouldn't take much out of the fact either guy is tooting around the ice.  Here's hoping they're back soon though.

I thought you were getting firewalled?

:) I'm at home... Firewall at work to come as early as the beginning of next month.  :( Hopefully there are no obstacles to setting up a proxy server there but I'm not holding my breath.
