No offense, but can you send me a Nylander one?

Campbell definitely has better rebound control. He has an athletically ready stance, similar to a SS in baseball and smothers the puck with his glove at every opportunity. Squares to the puck in a fashion similar to, may I say, Belfour? Stays on his feet helping him cover the top of the net. Freddo is always on his knees and gives up to many top shelf goals. I love Freddo but his time is fading. Time to say goodbye.OldTimeHockey said:bustaheims said:OldTimeHockey said:I'll admit that the team certainly plays differently in front of Campbell than they do in front of Andersen. But I don't think it's how the above posters see it.
I think they play a much more sound defensive game in front of Campbell. What you don't see as many of when Campbell is in net is the 5 alarm scoring chances. I can only remember one from last night. I'm sure I missed one or two, but it was nowhere near the 5 or 6 that they're giving up with Andersen in net.
If anything, I think that the team has an over confidence with Andersen in net and that has led to him having to bail the team out. He did it a couple years ago. He doesn't seem to be able to do it now.
I applaud Campbell for the way he's playing. I have no issues with it. I'm not ready to anoint him the second coming though.
Yeah, I've noticed that, as well. The team is much more defensively sound with Campbell in net - though, I also wonder is part of that is that, in general, they've played better defensively over the past few weeks. I guess we'll see if/when Andersen is ready to come back.
I thought the same thing.
This team is definitely playing better defensively.
Though, even in the 2nd period, when the team went from dominating the 1st to giving up all the shots against in the 2nd, none were dangerous. I guess we'll find out if that's a matter of them playing differently in front of Campbell, or an improved overall defensive game.
bustaheims said:That's fair. There's also this, using data from hockey-reference.com:
Campbell is facing, on average, 0.98 even-strength, high-danger chances that results in a shot on net per 60.
Andersen is facing 1.68.
That's a substantial difference.

Said it before, lets trade the Barber for him and retrieve Dubas biggest mistake of his GM'ship. Hell, Mikko took down Hedman the other day.dekedastardly said:You know who I thought had a decent looking shot from the point? Lehtonen. What's Sandin doing? Can we give him a try yet?

I'll see if I can get him to sign one. What size?

I only remember pucks going in when he picks this save, but to be fair it is usually on a cross-slot pass.
True and a lot of goalies play this way. I never understood why. Guess I'm old school. Hopefully Freddie gets back healthy again and we can have both him and Jack going down the stretch..herman said:OldTimeHockey said:I also don't like his spread eagle belly save that he tries 3 times a game.

L K said:I think the last game he played he did that move and the puck slid around his skate but out through the crease. He rarely seems to get his skate all the way over to the post so there is usually a spot to get the puck into the net. It either goes off his lower pad/skate and into the net or get through that gap without touching him.
That might be a limitation of his mobility this year but that starfish just doesn't cover the net.

I'd say the last batch of games he played were probably during an injury so I'd cut him some slack for those.
I agree. I don't think he was fully healthy when he came back against Edmonton. His side to side movement hasn't been great for quite a time now. I think he came back early because Jack was hurt again and I believe he's been ailing for most of the year. That 10 games in a row def didn't help him because he really had no time off in between to heal.CarltonTheBear said:L K said:I think the last game he played he did that move and the puck slid around his skate but out through the crease.
