Leafs/NHL Twitter

I think the press are the only people bothered by any of this.

... and I think that's part of the attraction from the pubic's perspective. I mean, here's a couple of guys who who kicked sand in the Leaf's face for years (I thought Cox stopped there for a while) but now, they reveal themselves to be somehow "wounded" by all this and now it seems there'e some spare salt going around. My advice to both of 'em? - Suck it up, buttercup!

I don't think Burke or Wilson are taking it seriously, nor worrying about it.  Much to the chagrin of Cox and Simmons.

http://podcast.tsn.ca/tsnradio/SteveSimmons_120511.mp3

TSN: "Do you expect a phone call on this (article)?"

Simmons: "No because we're no longer speaking."
(paraphrased)" ... We've had no communication since my first article on Burke except communication from him via email that there would be no communication."

Burke cut Simmons off last summer.

He cites Burke's past problems with Vancouver columnist Tony Gallagher & Al Strachan as the 'bigger problem here" and something Steve wanted to avoid. As if we're supposed to forget Cox & Simmons having a similar problem with Pat Quinn for much of the same media BS.

lol  ;D

He's a pathetic little weasel.

It is the coach's responsibility and duty to put the players in the lineup that will give the team the best chance at winning.  So what if RW changed his mind.  I wonder how many times Cox, Simmons or Strachan changed their minds as to what information would appear in their articles.  I don't think their editors took a hissy fit over it either.

Too bad the Leafs didn't win Saturday night.  It would have been nice to rub their noses in it.

Funny how Simmons is so offended.  He's like the new Howard Berger, and now Cox is even at it.  Damian Cox wasn't as bad years ago, or at least he wasn't cut off from the Leafs I suppose, but now he seems bitter as well.

During the Quinn years, I think Cox was basically cut off from management, etc. He hated them and they didn't seem to care for him in return.

my favourite part and I think the most telling is when Cox mentions that the leafs are consumed with out maneuvering the media.

yeah damien...they're sooooooo scared of you and your buddies!  Puffing himself up a bit?  or just having a tantrum because they won't talk to him?

If Leaf fans or players wrote articles on the reporters...

Damien Cox had a horrible article today.  I guess his head was just not in writing.  His streak at writing bad articles has now stretched to 9 days and if something is not done soon, his editor should consider firing him.  There are quite a few reporters writing for local papers who are waiting in the wings to get their opportunity at writing for a big paper.

Looking at his latest performance, he is not using all the grammar tools at his disposal.  He is making basic punctuation errors that a professional writer should not be making.  He is missing his assignments and forgetting to ask important questions to his interviewees.  There is too much inconsistency in his articles and he is forgetting to report on the facts.  Maybe a benching for a few days would do wonders for him.

His slow start in his articles catches up to him at the end of his articles.  He has to write catch-up articles in which case the valuable time he lost cannot be recovered.  In a few articles, he gets off to a good fast start, but he is not able to maintain that level and the quality of his writing tapers off towards the end of the articles.  Maybe it is a lack of conditioning, in which case maybe his trainers should be fired.

Wrong thread... Maybe we need a #teamunit thread but good man!

So I've been looking at the Leafs twitter accounts and it seems like Burke is taking questions, I tweeted him this...

@LeafsBB20 despite being the biggest market in the NHL Toronto hasn't gotten to see events like the all star game or nhl draft why is that?

Draft was here in 2002. All Star game in 2000. Only Montreal has hosted more All Star Games.

We'll probably be getting everything in 2017, draft, all star game, stanley cup final :-)

In a 30 team league? There are teams that have hosted neither in that span. All Star games tend to go to teams with new buildings who haven't hosted on yet or teams celebrating major anniversaries. Drafts . . . well, honestly, I just don't care about where the draft is. It's not really that big a draw in terms of paying customers.

It's also worth mentioning that the league hasn't played an all-star game in three of the last seven years and four of the last eighteen.

Burke took questions from fans on twitter for 2 hours one day and said he would answer them on upcoming off days.  Other than that I don't think he answers questions.
