I'm really struggling to see what Babcock is seeing out of Hunwick.  Being a veteran and playing bad doesn't seem to be a better option than playing bad and being young with developmental opportunity.

He might be really well liked by the players, so maybe they're just going to give him a few games here and there.

This year, if they want to do that stuff, I don't have a problem with it.  Next year, I won't be as understanding.

I mean, at least they banished the other vets to the Marlies...

If the pens are taking them lightly/not skating we're in this.

Love those retro unies on the pens.

Mathews/Hyman/Brown has looked really good. The other two really get in there and fish it out for Auston.

Freddie sharp on the back-to-back.

Matthews playing with a little more jam tonight it seems.

Or a little more noticeably anyway

If all the centres we have, he's definitely the one that doesn't need as much offensive help.

I think having him know he's the line's alpha option helps him. And we know Brown is good with generational left handed centres.

Who did Brown play with?

Well, lucky to come out of the first without giving up a goal. Andersen looked ok, defence scrambly as usual.

Aside from when Crosby was on the ice I thought we played really well.

Lol, despite cherry's rant, it looked like letang fell while jumping over the puck, trying to get to the already open door. It wasn't like it was closed but unlatched.

All 98 or whatever lbs of Marner outworking two pens D along the boards to come up with the loose puck.

I'd say he's been the team's best player so far.  You watch his junior highlights and you think, well, he won't be able to control the puck like that in the bigs.  But he does.
