I'd use Kadri every time, he has creativity.

JVR scored a great shootout goal in the last shootout and doesn't even go this time?  Like, I don't get these weird decisions.  They're seemingly random.

JvR's 50% in his career so far. He'd be one of my first 2 guys every night. Even Kessel, who isn't great in the shootout, feels like a better choice than Clarkson, who has now scored once in his last 6 shootout attempts.

BAH! We got 1 point, but should have been 2...blew another 3rd period lead! Not impressed that Malkin got the winner after his goalie interference goal.  ::)

That's something to keep in mind, the game really should have ended 5-4.  I guess the refs couldn't stomach calling off 2 Pens goals in a game.

maybe..i still kind of think that they would have scored the tying goal anyway...the leafs were wretched after they got up 4-1 ...i didn't agree with all the calls in the game ...but the leafs were full marks for losing this game

if the pk is going to start tanking....then mcclement becomes useless.

also...how does he get icetime in ot?  he beyond bad offensively!

Might as well lose with your best offensive players in an offensive skills contest.

That specific goal shouldn't have counted, but, really, with the way they were playing and how poorly the Leafs were, the Pens deserved to at least tie the game in the 3rd.

That's my thinking, too. Unless someone like Clarkson has had a great night with the puck, go with your most skilled offensive guys. Heck, I'd probably throw Rielly out there before I went to Clarkson.

but it doesn't matter what they deserved...they did not score a legal tying goal.  Did bernier deserve to have a goal scored on him?  no, hes a good goalie who pittsburgh had to essentially cheat to beat in the end.

That's another thing - JVR had two goals in the game and Kessel was dangerous all night too.  So when coaches play a hunch because a player has a good game you'd think that might apply here, but nope.  Bah.

I think three road losses would def get Randy fired. So I am hoping for a loss against the Sabres. At this rate we are destined for a 17th over finish.

Soooo ..... Buffalo sucks!!!!

Guaranteed loss in buffalo Friday night?

i really hope not ..because winning against the habs on saturday isn't going to exactly be easy

Makes me sick looking at the standings now.

I wonder which goalie gets what night.

it's a long season (i kind of miss the half season actually)  there's time for some ups and downs ..as much as it seems like we're at the off with his head stage at carlyle i do kind of feel like early in the season it was hard to teach this group..they were winning despite a lot of questionable play..this is the first real adversity they've faced..i'm hoping this is where the team can learn some things

but this game was particularly disheartening ....watching it ..i felt like they'd learned absolutely nothing from their game 7 loss against boston last year..the penguins are a good team..a really good team..but the leafs didn't even look like they were in the same league there ..and they had an insanely shakey goalie in net...but the thing is they could have pulled their goalie for the third period and had the same result (i know not actually ..but come on ..0 shots?)

Im thinking Reimer Friday and Bernier will get the start in MTL as he wanted the start there at the beginning of the season and didn't get it.

jonasTSN1050: Randy Carlyle says he received no explanation on Malkin's game-tying goal. Says officials stopped talking at that point.

jonasTSN1050: Nazem Kadri just told me that he was told after collision with Zatkoff that there'd be no penalty. Pens were told same. Decision overruled.

Err?.

I have always wondered about Carlyles shootout choices but come onwhen Pittsburg has home advantage on the shootout and put their best players on 2 and 3. You put your best scorers. Kessel, Van Riemsdyke, Raymond, Kadri, and even a couple of Defense men should have gone before Clarkson.
