Leafs @ Rangers - Dec. 23rd, 7:00pm - SN, TSN 1050

Bernier's shootout save percentage this season is now at a "robust" .500. Safe to say that it is not something that he can consider among his many positive attributes.

That was a weak play by Kadri to end it. Try to put it along the ice on the butterfly guy. Bright.

Disappointing. They didn't deserve to win, lucky to get a point. They'd better smarten up soon, or the teams behind them are going to start catching up.

It's a common deke on a butterfly goalie, you try to get them moving side to side and slip it through their pads.

Be proud, Dave Nonis.  Be proud of this collection of battlers you've out together, guys who give it their all each and every night, brilliantly deployed by their Stanley Cup-winning coach.

Bernier was a lot better in the SO earlier in the year

He actually wasn't. Most of the failed attempts against him have been missed shots rather than saves. He's had some influence in that, but, it's not like he suddenly stopped stopping the puck in the shootout - it's actually that he's being forced to make more saves and not succeeding.

It's been happening ever so gradually.

I've got the gut feeling that come February, maybe after the Olympic break, the Leafs will get their 2nd wind.

But by then, they might be playing catch up.
