1 regulation win in their last 18 games.

And yet they still might be in a playoff spot come January 1st. That's insane.

Only because, if there were relegation, almost all of the Eastern Conference would be sent down to the ECHL.

all the other eastern teams are just as bad..thank god?.if we had Bolland and Bozak in our lineup we would be 5 of 6 points?LOL

Also for those who don't make the connection:

@50_MissionCap

Teams have gotten points from the Leafs in 17 of their last 18. May as well put a neon 'FREE POINTS' sign at centre ice.

That's the most concerning side of things - especially considering 11 of those teams are in the East. Giving points away to teams you're battling for a playoff spot is clearly not a recipe for success.

They didn't deserve the point really so getting it is a bonus I guess.

Heading into the Christmas break the Leafs are: 13-16-5 with 5 shootout wins for 41 points in 39 games.

Just for fun, under the old system of W-L-T(OTL), the Leafs under Carlyle are 44-42-18

They're just barely managing to keep themselves ahead of the rest of the terrible teams in the East. I'm actually a little surprised by how that's worked out for them so far. I fully expected them to be out of the playoffs by this point, but, the only teams behind them that have really played had success in their past 10 are Columbus and Florida.

Bernier was a lot better in the SO earlier in the year

He actually wasn't. Most of the failed attempts against him have been missed shots rather than saves. He's had some influence in that, but, it's not like he suddenly stopped stopping the puck in the shootout - it's actually that he's being forced to make more saves and not succeeding.

I think they should just install a rink in the dressing room and have Reimer face shots the entire 3rd period in any game where the Leafs are within a goal of a tie.

Reimer was horrible in shootouts last year but apparently worked hard on improving that aspect of his game in the offseason, perhaps Bernier could use some pointers from Reims

It's more likely that it's just a small sample-size crapshoot.

Reimer has been noticeably more aggressive in shootouts this year, meaning he actually gets well out beyond the paint whereas previously his rear stayed pretty much at the crossbar.

To be fair, most of the teams behind them were so far out of it to start the year that despite some solid runs they are still way out of things.

Florida - Started 3-9-4...coaching change...11-9-1
New York - Started 2-6-0, since then have gone 15-12-2
Philadelphia - Started 1-7-0, since then have gone 16-9-4
Buffalo - Started 4-15-1...coaching change...6-9-2
New Jersey - Started 1-5-4, since then have gone 14-10-3
Washington - Started 2-5-0, since then have gone 17-9-4

The Leafs are currently on a 8-11-5 stretch of hockey with 5 wins coming in OT (4 via SO)
So essentially we are playing Buffalo Sabres quality hockey since a strong start.

I agree. I say 'to hell with conventional thinking' and worries about cold goalies. I'd switch them up for shoot outs and put Reimer in for most of them, unless or until it stops working.

Carlyle blaming the schedule *facepalm*

Love these comparison stats:

@mforbes37

A look at the #Leafs after 39 GP:
2011-12 43 pts
2012-13 47 pts
2013-14 41 pts

Seriously?  The rested team couldn't generate more energy than the team that played last night and you complain about schedule?  This is a "young" team, but a team with legitimate NHL experience.  Fatigue shouldn't really be this much of an issue 38 games into the year when every other team is playing a grueling condensed schedule.  Maybe you should actually dress a 4th line so the top 9 aren't exhausted every game.

Colton Orr - 49 games without a point

Exactly, NYR rolled 4 lines last night against Minnesota and appeared to have lots of jump left for tonight's game... On a somewhat related note I really miss Komarov.

Here is my drunk rant. Whether or not you want to read into this I blame Bernier for both loses. Yes he may of got the team to OT, but he is brutally awful in the shot out. Frankly I don't care what any one else thinks cause this is my opinion. thanks you

No offense but you're an idiot
